2012 John Deere 5055E - Won't start. No dash lights or instruments. Battery good. PROBLEM SOLVED!

John Deere 5055 (2012) - The battery has 12.9 volts. No dash lights when ignition key is turned on and when turning to engage starter, starter does not turnover. ---- This problem appears to be uncommon, which is the main reason the diagnosis took longer. If others have the same issue, hopefully this video will assist you in diagnosing and solving the problem. This helped me rule out these common problems that usually are the root-cause with the same symptoms that my tractor had in this case.

I have a 4310 with the same problem, but have not found where it's shorted at. It may be the regulator on the alt., guess its a problem with it being a john deere!

Just a bad spot in the wire and those are the hardest intermittent failures to find. Bad as I hate to say it you’re lucky it burnt in two and failed completely. Weaved chase bad connections on locomotives for days because the insulation was holding the wire together even after the conductor had failed. Probably didn’t blow the fuse because the failure wasn’t from an current overload. GM sourced cheap electrical components in the late 90’s early 2000’s and developed a bad reputation because of it. My wife had a 2007 bmw with bad headlight wiring when it was 6 yrs old.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this definitely taxed my patience while we were trouble-shooting. But once we located this burned wire behind the fuse box, the rejoicing began! Hope this helps others!

Hi Jack, I am having a problem, I can not get my bucket to raise, but ,my tractor set for 17 months, battery was dead as expected, then jumped it, mowed with my Brush Hog, for 3 hrs went to put it away, couldn't get my bucket to raise,,next day , battery is dead, now when I turn the Key, I get a Explanation point Blinking and a Red Bucket signal ?? Called the dealer ship, said to bring it in for Diagnostic, UHMMM, can't move it on to a trailer because of the bucket in on the ground . I am not a technically sound person?? Very challenging for me ?? If you have any advice for me, I would appreciate your help?? Thank you Sherry
