i recently lost my life long bestest friend to a series of strokes in a matter of 2 days she had 12 or more strokes in the hospital and who knows how many before me n her fella forced her to go to the e r! there is a life time of music that we shared over the 4 plus decades that we had each other there side by side through good better and the worst. when john first came on the scene he was john cougar and her n i went to 4 concerts in a 6 week span. mind you we were young teens then! but we hitch hiked to them and we slept in bushes to be out of sight for ppl to not be assholes while we were asleep! we shared so much w/ each other and i miss her so bad in hurts to my soul to not have her here but no matter what i have memories of our crazy ass ways of doing life! i love you sherry and always will!

I know when his first hit and real album came out he was already married and I think he had a child already (I might be wrong) ... I always loved John thought he was a cutie when I was in my teens and early twenties had a poster of him on my wall .. and always thought he did not look his age .. he is awesome live saw him live to many times to count love you John !

I was 14 yrs old in 81. I remember watching Saturday Night Live when a new singer, then called "Johnny Cougar" made one of his earliest TV performances. John slips here at 3:05 with the words. "Well I don't wanna come home …" Instead of "I don't even know if I'm doin this right..." But he recovers nicely. Gotta hand it to anyone who sings live though. Many do not today.

Hello, I am so anxious to say many GREAT things about this Video and this Man. I was happily born in 1971 and I fell in love with this Man the very first time I saw him, He was a Stunningly Beautiful Man, Really. Back doing that time Men were Men they carried their own originality. Which in it self was SEXY. And this is what this Video entails (Being Unique). John has always been a Mans Man. He has stood up and spoke on behalf of the small Farmers as well as blue collar workers such as myself. He has gifted this world with so much of his music it's just breath taking. I love this Song and its entirety. Pink looks GREAT on this Man, ( Yes he is Real Pretty in PINK.) Today in 2016 I don't even watch regular Television nothing to look at or watch. When I was growing up there was so many Great LOOKING Men on T.V. it was like drinking a glass of water. We really did take that for GRANTED. But now these days very very very little Men of those looks Grace the Silver Screen. I guess for me I thought we would always have those type Men around, not a Chance these days. So in Ending my love letter I would like to point out even back then he puts MOST Hollywood men to Shame the Blacks and the Whites in this ERA. And this is coming from a BLACK STALLION.

LUCKILY I caught the Cougar Band LIVE with Heart as Backup at the Castle in Charlevoix Michigan that year on a blistering HOT early summer evening and MAN DID WE ROCK! Everytime and I mean EVERYTIME I head over the river (I live on the Canadian Side of the Border in Canada) into the US there's NEVER a time I don't catch myself singing LITTLE PINK HOUSES or all the other tunes from John...it's just so fitting when in the US!

The media, progressives, socialist, that's what happen. And they say America was never good. F.U.
My God, he was such a baby then. I’ve been following him since that album (Nothing Matters and What If it Did”) came out and never been disappointed, from John Cougar to John Cougar Mellencamp to John Mellencamp. He’s been outside the box and always true to himself and his roots.

And, his last hits were maybe better than anything he did before? That's what really surprised me about songs like: "I saw you first" and "Keywest Intermizzo" and "Your life is now". Then he did a great video "Let it all Hang Out" with that great dancer chick.

My very first memory of John Mellencamp was seeing him do this song on American Bandstand, along with the Motown-like choreography. Of course, his management at the time had him using that stupid Johnny Cougar moniker. I've been a fan ever since! So many great tunes, so many great shows! Never went with the tide, never sold out to the latest style or genre. Stayed true to himself and his music!

My absolute favorite word was 'AIN'T' growing up! My English teacher always corrected me and said it wasn't a WORD! Then my parents yelled once she sent a note home and said I was using it. I got my ass whipped!!! No prob John Meloncamp I now Karaoke 🎤 this GREAT song!
I'm feeling a little James Brown in this performance. Especially at the end. Good job.
Holy crap, he looks like he's 14!

LOL! Maybe 18, but not quite 14.
I think there’s a parallel universe I can feel my alternate living in 1981 right now , like a deja vu

miss the 80's
Sure, miss the 80's! John put out a lot of good music!
It HAD to be the 80's! Where else you gonna see "Johnny Cougar" looking like he's in High School, and flanked by a half dozen guys in PINK tuxedos?? Strange video, indeed, but The Kid had it, way back then. Great moves, Sir Mellencamp. One of the last of the true rockers.
... Yes, John dances and moves awesome in person. ... Fabulous. 😉👍🙋🏻♀️💕
