Mayweather wasn't being slapped around with combinations in both hands and never had his right hand taken away from him. Mayweather with his defense could shut you down and simplify your fight strategy. while all this is happening he's hitting a jab, little combination, couple counters, pot shotting, making you miss, etc. Watch mayweather's fights. Watch Mayweather fight Canelo actually. Mayweather did GGG's game 1 million times better, but you'd give that fight to ggg on the merit that he had more jabs landed like its the basketball arcade game at Chucki Cheese. Canelo dominated

I met Teddy personally in a beach town one time. It was an amazing experience. I always admired his opinion me being a life long boxing fan. I was working at Verizon one day and heard the unmistakable voice of Teddy Atlas to my left. I turned around and there he was talking to his friend. I said, “Are you Teddy?” Before I could finish he said, “Atlas.” He was such a humble man. We talked a little boxing. When he shook my hand before leaving, it was like shaking a hand of steel. He wasn’t flexing at all. This guy is the real thing, no joke. You just automatically feel naturally comfortable around this guy when talking to him. He is such a genuinely nice guy.

@Alfred Stanback I think Canelo lost the first ggg fight, but definitely won the second. He’s defeated Daniel Jacobs and Callum Smith who was arguably the best super middleweight at the time. He then defeated an out of his prime kovalev, who was still regarded as the best LHW at the time. I’m not a big Canelo fan, but dang is it hard to argue against his recent accomplishments. Now he’s preparing to fight Saunders. If Canelo wins this, the only person he has left to fight is Beterbiev or however you spell his name. Andrade and Charlo should both fight it out, they both have been avoiding any real competition hoping Canelo looks their way.

By far Teddy deserves a lot of RESPECT because he has openly called out the injustices done to fighters. He makes it a point to address things on the spot. He has called the sport of Boxing out for being bias and unfair. He loves the fighters and what they sacrifice to get where they are. He doesn’t back promoters and the social aspect of selling a fight. He sees the sport for what the fighters put in and do in the ring. Joe, I’ve become a big fan of yours over the years. I appreciate your eye on more than just sports. I loved the 2nd fight greatly. I did not appreciate the unprofessionalism GGG showed by leaving the ring but I also am not GGG and I don’t know the emotions he was feeling at that very moment when losing the fight so I can not appreciate it but I can not condemn him for it. Real people have real emotions and this sport has a huge toll on fighters mentally as well as physically. Great job by both fighters. I’ve watched the fight 4 times and loved it every time. We couldn’t have asked for a more action packed fight.

Imagine being robbed in the first fight. No one can honestly say that was a draw by any standard. And then the second fight, which GGG definitely did enough to win that fight, gets robbed a second time. I’d you want to say the second fight was a draw I’d be fine with that. But Canelo did not win either of those fights and 100% lost the first one.

I agree with Teddy, I thought GGG won both fights. But the second fight was very close, and 117-112 for GGG is a bit wide. He’s right, that judges award “aggression” too much, and for me much of the fight Canelo was in affective. I had it 116-114 for GGG and that was being generous to Canelo

Sure he didn’t walk them down but real boxers do whatever it takes to win, if Mayweather made a career out of winning using jabs and landing soft punches then GGG definitely won the second fight too. Also the “natural 160” comment is a bs excuse because canelo always fought smaller opponents at 155 and only went up 5 pounds for this fight with a clause for GGG so that he couldn’t weigh more than 160 even on fight night, and canelo was visibly the fuller more muscular framed fighter (who has even fought at 175). Face it, canelo needed PEDs, crooked judges, a lot of time to duck and avoid and wait for GGG to get older, an 8 YEAR youth advantage (HUGE in boxing) just to stand a chance and get a controversial win.

Golovkin put them both on their arses, so even though they both fought well, neither of them won the 8 rounds they needed after the knockdowns. This is why Golovkin took both fights.
