Joe Rogan Smacks Up Milo Yiannopoulos On Religion

A comedian and a gay conservative Christian journalist got into an explosive feud over the latter’s sexuality.
Breitbart columnist Milo Yiannopoulos appeared Wednesday on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where the duo bashed feminists, the left, and so-called “social justice warriors” in a mostly friendly conversation. Things became heated, however, after Yiannopoulos brought up his religious beliefs...

    I agree that the use of that term is a massive exaggeration. Milo was just saying that he doesn't like one aspect of himself. However, I think Joe overreacted because being a homosexual should not be something that anyone should feel ashamed of. Straight people aren't "better" than gay people. They are treated better in society, but that shows the moral failings of society, not gay people. Milo saying that he would take a pill to become straight makes complete sense because he would be generally treated better in society. However, him saying that he would take the pill to become a better person isn't correct and is the wrong message to send out in my opinion.

  • @suckieduckie

    @suckieduckie

    @@DV-xu7ps That entirely depends on what part of the Middle ages you refer to, what social class, and what location. The higher classes of cities like Venice and Genoa were living in circumstances that might even surpass the richest Romans in quality of life. Antwerpen, Gent and Brussel are other examples of thriving cities with great quality of life around 1300, which is still considered the Middle Ages. I agree though that there were very few places in the early Middel Ages that were better to live in than their Roman predecessors. Don't forget though that the vast majority of people living in every age till about 1900 had a shit life for todays standard, excluding maybe the Dutch Golden Age that had a remarkably large middle class for her time.

  • @DV-xu7ps

    @DV-xu7ps

    @@suckieduckie any proof for that? That the higher class of Venice and Genoa lived better than even than richest Romans? Rome was an empire that spanned across 3 continents, their colonies provided some of the most luxurious import and their architects and artists were unparalleled. I doubt that small merchant republics had anything near that. Even a well trained roman legion could squash unorganized medieval armies. But that is not the point, the point is the life, rights and opportunities that average person had back in those days. You could argue that life in North Korea is better than in Norway solely due to ruling caste living a better lifestyle, or that Emirates are better than European countries due to Sheikhs being obscenely rich!? Try thinking a bit next time

  • @suckieduckie

    @suckieduckie

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@DV-xu7ps Try thinking a bit next time? You are the one comapring appels and oranges. Obviously we should compare the higher social classes of Rome with the higher social classes of another place. You do the same for other social classes and that's exactly what I argued and what you failed to do with a generalising statement that basically amounted to "everyone in the Roman empire (you fail to specify in what era) had a better life than everyone in the middle ages (once again fail to specify era, let alone class, location etc)". My reasoning for my argument is this. Genoa en Venice were trading with the Middle-East as an extension of the silk route. This gave them incredible wealth, but more importantly sparked the renaissance because it introduced them to knowledge of the Greeks and Romans that was lost in the west and perfected in the east, combined with new insights in the fields of medicine, astronomy and mathematics. Tools like the compass made their way to the west like this. The network of Venice and Genoa stretched all the way to China, so the 'most luxorious import' the Romans enjoyed was even better for these rich cities. Life expectancy was better for the upper class than it was in the Roman Empire, mostly due to child mortality. Highborn Romans were also plagued by genetic diseases and lead poisening due to the way they transported wine. The biggest difference however is that the middle class in cities were much, much richer and bigger than their Roman counterparts. You also use very broad statements like the entire Roman Empire is a uniform state where quality of life is the same everywhere. As you so cleverly pointed out, the empire was very big. What are the odds that the quality of life are the same everywhere? The circumstances I name above were only present in the most wealthy European cities, and in the Roman Empire most likely only in Alexandria, Rome, and Byzantium. When it comes to the oppertunities that everyday people had. The Romans had slavery. Lots of oppertunities for those people. They had a massive social class called plebejers that litteraly meant 'those with no posession'. They had nothing but their family name. Rome was also a military state, so if you like dying in a war that's fine, but I would much rather be a merchant. So next time, instead of insulting me, try thinking a bit.

(Here comes the hate for those comments from the professional outrage mongers - "What you think heterosexuality is BETTER than homosexuality!?!?!? You think that being gay is a disability!?!?!"). I'm fully pro gay rights. But if I were gay I could readily see why I'd wish I was straight. There'd be a lot fewer problems for me. I wouldn't get discriminated against so much, I'd have to have a heck of a lot fewer awkward conversations, I'd be able to have my own kids w/ my partner if I/we wanted to.... I could enjoy being gay, enjoy the aspects of gay community and culture I participated in, love myself, the partners I've had and my gay friends, and still on the whole think it would have been better for me if I was straight.

    +Stephen Valentine Oh, but here's the cookie: He measures superiority of a culture by values of that culture. There are no objective values. No matter how advanced economy, science etc. are, no matter whether a country is a democracy or not, you can't say it's superior because of that, because it's only superior in that aspect, but you have to set a value system to determine which aspects matter. So, for example, a fundamentalist Muslim may prefer to live in a country where gays are stoned, which is poor and war-ridden than in the West because of his specific subjective set of values. In the same way, Milo is using Christian values to determine worth of Christian countries/cultures. I agree on self-loathing point. Some go on to claim that being straight shouldn't be superior to being gay and that we just live in a society that's flawed, but I disagree with that too. All the power to you if you're gay, but being straight just gives you more opportunities, such as having a loving marriage with someone sexually attracted to you and bearing a child with your own genes, while still being able to opt out of it if you don't like the idea. Gays aren't asked if they like it or not, they just can't have it. Not to mention the fact that overwhelming majority of people are straight, so it's way more difficult for gay people to find adequate partners. It's also pretty convenient to have a complementary set of sex organs. A straight person can have anything a gay can have in their sexual life and more. There's simply more options for you biologically, even with a society which perfectly caters to gays. Not to mention a society that doesn't, like what we have.

    The massive difference is that European cultures, and as an extension of that American culture, have been influenced by christianity since the 5th century. You can argue that the morals and values of this havn't had a good influence, but you can't argue that it didn't have any influence. When it comes to Uganda it has only had christianity for about 200 years. It is hard to pin down what part of Uganda culture should be attributed to christianity and what part to older traditions.

The most desirable places to live in the world are in europe and north america ... all of which have chritian roots. The data does not lie; however that does not change the fact that christianity like every other religion should be eradicated from the planet. I am disappointed that Rogan won't even study the materials milo is bringing up ... that is sad ... a real sceptic or academic would read the material and use evidence to debunk it.

OR to kill each other ... another example why religion is shit. Jack White the whole thing is fallacious. western culture stems from the enlightenment that reformed religion, separated church and state, ended monarchical power and started to move us gradually in the direction of democracy. in other words, western culture flourished in spite of christianity, not because of it -and more explicitly by overcoming christian tyranny. the judaeo-christian legacy is as blood thirsty, superstitious and oppressive as anything in the islamic world, but was reformed and defanged by secularism. liberal western values are not sourced from any religion but from reason and critical thinking and an intuition that everyone should have equal rights and dignity -which by definition is a step away from royalty and priestly classes claiming authority over the masses in the name of god. the fallacy is that morality comes from any religion. religious morality is uniformly outdated, old world, narrow minded, superstitious nonsense, that happens to have a good idea here or there amongst the bigoted, murderous, ass-backward pronouncements, punishments and "sins." the reason the islamic world is such a disaster right now is not at all because they are not christians -but precisely the absence of a secular enlightenment, democracy based on reason, scientific method, equality and the overturning of old religious models of power.

Years ago I remember Dawkins describing a sort of vortex/nexus that churns out universes complete with unique mathematical laws (essentially the mother of the Big Bang). We're talking about the source of the Universe (The Vortex); not the earliest known activity to occur within it (The Big Bang). I'm struggling to understand why you brought up the Big Bang like you did. Are you trying to look smarter than me by pitching it like a non sequitur "Hail Mary"? Man, i kinda miss the Joe Rogan before covid melted his brain. The old Rogan asked in both directions and invite guests from all sides and he knew that he does not know a lot. The new one has dinner with Gouverneurs and mayors, want's to save tax money on his 100 million and is an expert for a lot. And he constantly rambles about California and democrats and lefties and politicians and "big tec" ... like an early Alex Jones.

    Rogan is one trick pony now. His entire podcast is basically bitching about "media narratives" and "cancel culture". Moving to Texas has toasted his brain. I used to defend Rogan when leftists attacked him, since he used to be neutral and inquisitive. Turned out they had a better read on him than I did. He's just a meathead prick.

I know you're probably a kid (the "idiot" language) and that your friends might make fun of you for not being part of the "group think" but you should be able to look at the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and even Japan (before we, as a Judaeo-Christian nation set them straight) to see the difference. Have you ever studied how long the Middle East held on to slavery, for instance? Or that the Middle East has almost no black population despite a massive influx of African slaves over years and years? You probably think I'm nuts (because I'm Christian, I guess) but you owe it to yourself to know the truth about your heritage.

    He seems genuine about his bs xtianity to me. Idk how any intelligent person can give beyond absurd religion any credence whatsoever. Basically, social organisms arise from in-built empathy. Empathy can evolve because it engenders cooperation, and cooperation is a competitive advantage. When you get as complex as we are, what we call "morals" are what we label the patterns of intersubjective contouring of what arises from empathy. We can abstract it as ethical principles and whatnot but it's all at root the same. Just as animals don't need religion, nor does any social organism. We all have a basic sense of "right" and "wrong" that evolves in nuance as we test variation in culture what works and what doesn't. The general evolution of an individual or culture when it comes to morality, is where you draw the boundary of whom you care about and whom don't. Yourself? Your family? Your community? Your country? Your species? All species? All life and sentience? Etc. Something is more moral if its circle of concern and care is wider and deeper, and its universal application engenders better intersubjective function and experience. Religion is an embarrassing anachronism. Pretending its relevance should have been a closed book ages ago.

    It looks like r/the_donald were alerted to this video, judging by the downvotes. Milo said that becoming straight would be career suicide. Wow. He's admitting that his trolling nature is all about making money from his infamy. Not that it wasn't plain to see. Also, you can see how shifty he is when he tries to troll Rogan. It's probably easier to troll by text (articles, tweets etc) rather than face to face.

    In an interview with the moron that is Ruben, Milo says he doesn't want to be seen as equal to straight men because he claims that being gay makes him BETTER. Now here is is arguing the opposite. This is a classic conservative tactic. Consistency doesn't matter to them. They will say whatever they have to to gain what they perceive to be the "upper hand" in the moment. What a croc of shit this guys spews.

    "If I could choose, I wouldn't be homosexual...but that doesn't make me self-loathing." -Milo Yiannopoulos Brilliant words from a brilliant man. By brilliant, I mean an utter moron. I actually went an appearance by Milo at UCLA, because I was genuinely interested in his political philosophy, but instead of discussing substantive issues, he spent the entire time flattering his supporters, the power of conservative meme activism, and claiming that trolling liberals on pop cultural topics was the only thing that matters because young people don't give a shit about Israel or the Middle East. Conservative philosophy has experienced a race to the bottom when it comes to actually offering ideas and solutions to society at large.

    The point about him being self loathing because he'd choose not to be gay isn't valid at all. Everyone has something they'd change about themselves if they had the choice but it doesn't mean they hate themselves.

    He is not self hating because he'd choose not to be gay. He is, because to question: "so you would be better if you were straight?" he responded "yes". Thus, he was not saying about gays having it worse, he was talking about gay being worse = self hating.
