5 Really Freaky Sex Things In The Bible

The Bible has some lovely stories in it about kindness, empathy, and loving one’s fellow humans. But for every part about “not casting the first stone” and “doing unto others as you’d have them do unto you,” there are also a LOT of stories about other kinds of “stones” (the nether kind), and “coming in unto” people (meaning sex) as well...

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:1/4 They created half angels? Sounds like Greek literature.

No one who actually reads bible can remain theist, and maintain intellectual honesty. If Christianity is the poison, the bible is the antidote (reading it, of course). Tis no coincidence that for 1600 of 2000 years, it was the death penalty for having a copy of bible in any but a dead language (eg Latin)." The leaders and intellectuals amongst the religious knew the truth then, and now. Makes you wonder if they have anything to gain.

I was frusterated that I couldn't seem to form a testimony of my own and i set out to read the book cover to cover in an attempt to gain said testimony and better understand the loving light of god. As an agnostic atheist myself, I cringe when people make carelessly ignorant or disingenuous arguments against religion, like the very first example in this video. There is plenty of legitimate stuff to criticize in the Bible; let's stick to that, and not make asses of ourselves if we can avoid it, OK? Here's what I'm talking about: At 1:09 he completely reverses the intent of the passage he was quoting. The passage was not endorsing the use of dildos; it was actually condemning it, in this at least partially metaphorical description of the ways Jerusalem was "behaving badly" in "The Lord's" view. So to go on and say that Christians should endorse the use of dildos if they want to obey the "word of God", is either incredibly ignorant, or severely dishonest. If it was an honest mistake, it was still lazy and irresponsible; it would have taken little more than a couple minutes to read the context of the passage to understand that the stance was the exact opposite of what he presented it to be. Go ahead and point out how explicit and gratuitous this passage is, and how hypocritical you think it is for Christians to decry similarly explicit/gratuitous stuff in other media, but don't try to paint it as some divine endorsement of gilded dildos. (Who needs a religion to endorse such a thing anyway? I'm all for it, myself!)

Carl Frank Yes, I agree. The Bible is not the Word of God for me either; but the Secular Talk guy comes across as a 12 year-old, and an ignorant one at that. Imagine being titillated by the idea that people 3000 years ago were actually interested in sex! :( Lots of things are recorded in the OT and NT, including legends, stories of good and bad individuals and groups, myths, poetry, etc. Not everything is "this is what you must do", as you point out. So much to criticize in the Bible, the ST guy is trying to shoot fish in a barrel, but is even missing the barrel. For those interested, the phrase "her bowels were moved for him" in the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon) isn't referring to anal sex. Nowadays we would say "her heart was moved for him". They're expressions. Of course, emotions are no more in the heart than the bowels. Perhaps in another 1000 years, someone will see the expression "her heart was moved" and think "how silly!" But that will be another expression of ignorance and unfair to us now. And "the Bible is flat out advocating daughters to sleep with their fathers"? No. The story of Lot's daughters sleeping with Lot does not advocate that. In fact, it is probably a "just so" story giving the origins of the Ammonites and Moabites, tribes that did not get on well with the Israelites. Makes a nice origin story by portraying those tribes as incest-bred! Again, the Secular Talk guy could have done a little bit of study before saying what the Bible "advocates". To anyone knowing the Bible (which as the ST guy says probably doesn't cover a lot of Christians anyway) he just comes across as ignorant.

5:50-6:02--How can people read a passage like that and claim being a person of God means repressing sexuality? I could understand choosing celibacy because the person wants to channel that energy into other things (like devotional prayer, charity work, creativity, etc), but to say, "We must repress sexuality because it's bad and immoral" when there are Biblical passages that clearly celebrate it makes no sense.

Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, looking through the lattice. I specifically chose that passage because I thought it was erotic/funny. The funniest part is that I didn't even know of the bible verse but it was one of the suggested reading from the Catholic church for a wedding--so naturally I chose it.

Im not even christian. I just looked up the bible on google to read the context. first one is a bible verse listing the wrongs that were committed. Not saying they should do that. Its saying they SHOULDN'T do that. 2nd one is saying: if your wife tries to pleasure a man that you are fighting with to protect your life, she should be punished. i.e. that is not acceptable for your wife to cheat on you to save your life(or stop you form getting your ass kicked). the third one... hahah is about a prostitute who was thirsty for egyptians and acting like a slut but then she got raped by egyptians but she was still a slut afterwards so they decided to send her to the egyptians and let the egyptians punish her as they liked.

You took literally every single bible verse out of context. The first verse was clear as day... it wasn’t promoting sexual acts with idols with golden & silver penises, it was a metaphorical and historical documentation of the sins committed in Israel against God. The other passage is describing the beauty of a woman and the relationship of sex in marriage. The Bible isn’t just about morals, ethics, historical documentation, sins, and salvation, there’s also a lot of wisdom literature that speaks on different aspects of life. Sex and marriage is divinely ordained by God, so of course the wisdom literature is going to cover that. Your other comments are just non-sensical and ill founded mocking. I pray that you will one day repent of openly mocking Gods word and misleading others in your ignorance. I assure you that if you don’t, you won’t think Gods divinely inspired word is so hilarious on judgement day. Gods blessing.
