Joe Calzaghe, picked on as a kid and teenager for being Italian, has become the Pride of Wales.......and one of the greatest of boxers.

I hate fighters who just want to grab and clinch the whole time, it's a shame Calzaghe couldn't have given Salem a Lacy style beating towards the end of the fight.

That’s because all fighters don’t suck as bad as the hapless Jeff Lacy. It’s patget that Calzaghe nut huggers drone on about the “beating” Calzaghe gave Lacy. For God’s sake Dahmir Smith TKOd Lacy and he’s a Journeyman. Calzaghe has a dodgy resume. Who the hell is this guy he’s fighting ??

that round four was an example of why he ended up unbeaten. no fighter has the right to get floored like that and win the fight. amazing recovery

pearcemark2 he fought a lot of nobodies yeah, but there are enough big names to make his career exceptional. Kessler in prime, schooled lacy ended his career, hopkins has shown since he wasn't over the hill, jones jr has however proven he was :). great career.

pearcemark2 Your a fucking pom pom waving idiot. EVERY champion has fought a bunch of "nobody's" coming UP through their boxing career, ya fuckin' MORON. Ya HAVE TO FIGHT the "nobody's" to EARN your way up the ranks. Joe fought EVERY GREAT CHAMPION during his career. ONLY 1 he didn't, and that was because he had a badly injured hand. You can't FAKE an injury like that. X-RAYS DON'T LIE. Joe is THE VERY BEST. Fuck off.

This Salem guy is NOT A BOXER BUT A WRESTLER. I bet he doesn’t land 50 punches the entire fight. He did not know how to box. When he lucked out and knocked down Calzaghe, the fight became very slow, lots of clenches, and boring!

“He’s back doing what he does best.. defending this WBO title” LMAO. The announcer has to go into explination mode as to why Calzaghe is fighting another scrub opponent. This guy is so laughable. A champion on 15 defenses should never be facing a guy like this.

Bernard Hopkins defended his middle weight title a record number of times,it was like 20 or more I can't remember. I can't remember any of their names to be quite honest. Can you?

Hopkins pulled a little scam of his own. He saw a weak division and cleaned up. He did beat Trinadad and Delahoya but they were blown up in weight. He beat an undefeated Glen Johnson and John David Jackson. I’m not a huge fan of Hopkins... but no one pulled greater bullshit than Calzaghe. He won a title in 97 and spend damn near a decades fightin soft touch opponents. I think his fighting Roy Jones , after calling. Jones washed up in his own book in 07 is cowardly beyond belief. Jones was KOd multiple times already and right after Calzaghe got KOd in the first by Danny Green ! Both Hopkibsvand Jones get mention as ATG and crack the top 100 All Time list while Calzaghe does not. And he was 46-0 !! That shows what rubbish his opponents were and that the critics aren’t giving him any glory for beating old versions of jones and Hopkins. Joneswas truly great in his prime, Hopkins was just a smart operator who found ways to spoil opponents...Calzaghe was a cherry picker who’s daddy had to force him to step up and fight. Calzaghe should have came to America in 2000. He would have lost to Jones, but could have made a name for himself. As much as I dislike Hopkins... at 43 he took joe to SD and dropped him... it’s rather blind not to realize had Hopkins beena tad younger and could keep pace he would have beaten Calzaghe.

@@checkandbalance2903- boloney! Any champoin boxer can get knock out by a "so called lesser fighter" at any time! Just ask Mike Tyson who never seen it coming from Buster Douglass, or Mike Weaver who took a beating from big John Tate for 14 rounds, and suddenly knocks Tate out in the 15th! The list is vast! The point is that if Calzaghe did get knocked out by a so-called-bum you'd be saying the same thing you are now. This fight here, he was up against a dirty brawler, who tried wrestling type tatic's to try and tire the champ out, the result was an ugly fight, no fault of Calzaghe!
