Because people like to defend the sport of boxing by calling out fighters who tried to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. This was a typical Calzaghe opponent. A padded record but not at all dangerous

@@checkandbalance2903 The truth is that you are envious, you are present in every Calzaghe video, you cannot understand how it is possible for a boxer like Calzaghe despite not having the body of Brewer, Veit, Eubank, Manners, Lacy, Reid, of Mitchell, etc., he has outclassed them all, here escape the physical laws try to exorcise Calzaghe denying his successes, but I am sorry for you Calzaghe has existed and has won world belts, holding them among other things for a long time, all without being born in the USA, and will be remembered as one of the best boxers in his class, an unbeaten boxer, a great-speed boxer, an incredible endurance, one of the best defense ever seen in boxing, an exciting, boxer incredibly spectacular, these results obtained through a father who improvised as a coach and gave his son on the roof of the world, always remaining close to them, I would not like to prolong the comm ento, I tell you that in my little experience after having probably seen 250 or 300 boxing matches both of a master and a professional level, I can tell you serenely and without fear of being denied that boxers like Calzaghe are born once every 30 or 40 years, this former coaches and former boxers said, and I fully share their opinion, Calzaghe was number one, and even today he would serenely dominate his category, so you should accept this fact, his career is documented, there are no tricks it deceives was simply an extraordinary boxer you like it or not!

Again you make a claim and provide ZERO evidence. I’m asking you to name one famous trainer or fighter who called Calzaghe a once every 40 year fighter ?? You can’t because this exists only in your fantasy. You are a Calzaghe super fan and that’s fine. You mention Mitchel Brewer, Lacy veit ?? These are B and C class fighters !!! Who cares that Calzaghe out classed them ?? Those fighters were outclassed by many other average fighters. Your not an educated boxing fan... you are a Joe Calzaghe fan. Your blowing his accomplishments and talent out of proportion. Weather you like it or not.

Mario Viet has no real opponents. The Hopkins won was good but Hopkins lost 5 fights at LHW so he was a pretty beatable fighter. Calzaghe was cleverly managed. Good but not great. I've got to ask, why are you trying so hard to defend Mario Veit? Talking about him being "48-0 apart from the losses to Calzaghe" and so on. That would be like saying Brian Nielsen was a great fighter because he went 49-0 before Dicky Ryan (a bum) took him down in fight #50. Outside of Denmark, no one cares about Brian Nielsen, same as no one cares about Mario Veit outside of Germany. Do you know why? Because they were nothing but fringe contenders (in the case of Nielsen, barely a fringe contender at Heavyweight!). You talk about Veit beating Brähmer but that was disputed, it wasn't a clean victory. The lad was a protected boxer, it's not uncommon. His management team looked after him until Calzaghe smashed it Calzaghe was a genuine talent, I thought he was legit, but it's hard to defend most of his title opponents. I would be kind and give credit for the wins against: Chris Eubank (still dangerous at that time), Charles Brewer (ex-IBF champion and still tough, at that time), Byron Mitchell (ex-WBA champion), Robin Reid (ex-WBC champ), Richie Woodhall (ex-WBC champ), Jeff Lacy (undefeated IBF champ at the time), Sakio Bika (future world champ), Mikkel Kessler (39-0 and WBC/WBA champ at the time) and Bernard Hopkins. I feel that Roy Jones Jr was finished by the time Joe fought him. Overall, I think Calzaghe has at least 9 good wins in his title run but the likes of Veit, Thornberry and Pudwill are awful, really! Typical WBO mandatory opponents. Since 1988, the WBO has been notorious for having some awful fighters in their rankings. Did you know that the WBO title is the most-vacated world title in boxing history?

the Italian now explains the trick: you have to treat your citizen like shit, make him feel a waste, don't even give him work and minimum wages, nor rights, castrate his pleasure, once this is done the rest comes over time.you must also tell your citizens that it is not worth investing even a euro in them, this is the basic job, so you want to go away and seek fortune abroad for those who have the strength and to take drugs for those who do not have it 'has! Two ways that still bring money to those who know how to exploit the results. Sympathy?

It’s arrogant and ignorant to believe this has anything to do with “Americans”. Most Americans do t even follow boxing much less care about the negotiations between two NON BOX OFFICE fighters. Hopkins never was a star in America and was known as a boring fighter. Calzaghedegended the lightly regarded WBO against a parade of NOBODIES in the UK. The states has Mayweather and guys like Pac-Man tearing it up against other prime fighters so why the hellwould anyone give a flying fuck about Joe Calzaghe lol. Sounds like UK boxing fans are bitter and feel inferior to their big brother Americans and are desperate to be noticed 🤣

MrHistorian no sir he can’t be one of the all time greats. Regardless of who’s fault it is or who ducked who we don’t have examples of Calzaghe fighting prime world class fighters. I doubt anyone was scared to fight Calzaghe. Frank Warren spilled the beans on Calzaghe. Showtime called him “no show Joe” and he faked hand injuries to pull out of fights. He said flat out he wanted nothing to do with Jones in a 2000 interview and called Jones washed up in his own autobiography in2007.. then he fights him in 2008 after he’d been KOd twice and easily beaten by Tarver. He fought Hopkins when Hopkins was 43... and he nearly lost. Hopkins was dropping fights post 40 . Chad Dawson beat him, Pascal got a draw. He was still good but no longer an invisible fighter. If Chad Dawson can beat him what is so special about Calzaghe getting dropped and taking a SD ??? REGARDLESS of the excuses in 46 fights, Hopkins and Kessler were his only two true tested world class opponents who weren’t on bad down slides. Your not an all time great under those conditions
