Thanks for the shout out Kev 🙂 You fettled up the back plates nicely. There's a few more years in them now. I've only tried brazing a couple of times, (with mixed results!) -do you propane or acetylene?

Thanks 👍 Matt No problem with the shout out, and you put a stamp on the envelope🤣😉👍 I'm on oxy/pro, brazings like many things when not doing it regular it takes a while to get in to it. I'd rather silver solder, but its so expensive now. see you next time Take Care Kev

Hi Kev. I spent many weekends in the late 1970’s trawling the local scrap yard for parts for my Ford Escort and then with the help of the trusty Haynes manual attempting various repairs. I could not contemplate carrying out any car repairs now. You’re braver than me. Well done. 👏👏👍😀

There is not much you can't do Kev. I used to like working on my cars like this but I had a mild stroke a couple of years back. It's so weird that a small loss of power in your leg and arm can stop you from doing that. Although I am lucky as I can still play my guitar. 😄👍👍

eyup Steve i'm too tight to buy another car, but in all honesty really, i dont won't one with all the whistles and bells on, to much to go wrong, so keeping this as long as i can, i feel as if i'm back in the 70's repairing 10 year old rot boxes, but to be fair, had this from new and at 21 year old its solid underneath, just got it up on ramps to jet wash it and give it the (Sheep Oil Treatment) Lanoguard, after doing my wifes 11 year old a Hyundai with it, 1st time i've used lanoguard and it seems to be a great product, easy to apply, but time will tell, i've always used waxoyl before. thanks for feedback and hope the tvr's going well see you next time👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Kev

Good workaround Kev. Better than new. Brazing is so good. Pity most people never try it. They're all MIG happy ;) I actually had a fail brazing the other day when I attempted to make a small stainless steel muffler. SS is a pig to braze. Very inconsistent heat transfer and bonding. A bit of Googling revealed it's widely regarded as difficult to do. It was almost impossible to get a neat finish. Ever been down that path ? Cheers Rob
