Ep 24 Making a Micro / Mini / Watchmakers / Clockmakers / Small Lathe ( Classic Tool Post Clamp) & (Suprise Package from KZreadr Chris Stephens) UC-Eg5K5ftEl5hKZrc0VOP-Q
CLAMP for Tool Post Classic Style from Offcuts
This lathe was briefly started many many years ago by an unknown Engineer, passed through a few pairs of hands since with nothing else done to it, until i got hold of it, so i will continue with the small amount of work already done, to finish the lathe in to a Imperial Micro / Mini / Watchmakers Lathe with screw cutting capabilities & back geared, everything has got to be made from Scratch including the Back Gears, Clutch, Change wheels, Leadscrew, Tailsock, Spindle, Pulley's, Screwcutting Mechanism, Dials etc etc just to name a few. The casting is very elegant and well made item, with a good foundation to start from.
There were numerous manufactures of these small lathe in Great Britain many moon's ago, to many to name here, so do a search and take a look at the huge seclection of makers and differing shapes, sizes and capabilities.

Hi Kev. The micro lathe is tantalisingly close to being put through its paces. The micro tool post is perfect in shape and form. In all respects, such a beautiful build. Well done, and Happy Easter 🐣👍😀

Hi Kev. I have some micro boring bars similar sizes and they are super good for opening out small bushes etc on model engine builds. You need a simple mounting block for them. Cheers Rob

What ho Mr F, I told you they were too small for my use, hope you weren't insulted by my humour. They are only good as a bit of a talking point, coz they are llareggub use to we materials manipulators in the real world. The other two might come in handy though. Happy Ramadan, sorry, Easter. C

@@retromechanicalengineer that's what you get for being old.🤣 it may be small but I'm generous enough to share what I have.
Very nice touch and a lovely bit of jewelry for the little machine. I've been following along, just not commenting much. After 6months of not feeling very good I finally forced myself to get out in the garage recently. I have gotten my Smithy 3 In 1 machine set back up as a lathe again and actually did a test cut. Maybe now that Winter is set to go away I will get back out there more. Looking forward to your next installment.
