I met Jimmy Nelson in the early 1960s. He was visiting relatives in Albany NY and was very nice to us kids. Back 12 years ago I sent him an email reminding him of his visit and he said he remembered us and sent me a signed picture. Who can ever forget N E S T L E S nestles makes the very best Chocolate.

James Edward Nelson (December 15, 1928 - September 24, 2019) was an American ventriloquist who appeared on television in the 1950s and 1960s. He is most famous for commercials for Nestlé chocolate featuring Farfel the Dog. He also hosted a children's show sponsored by Nestlé.

Oh yes, I feel the same way ! I LOVEDFarfel. I had a recording of Peter and the Wolf narrated by this bunch. I hate it when young people call them creepy, it was a different time,they don't understand

I loved Winchell and Mahoney as well! Everything is creepy to the young!!!. I don't know how old you are but I grew up in the 50s/60s where we were well rounded and had so many different forms of great programs and talent. I think the kids of today are closed minded, what they don't know or they think they won't like they shut it out and think it is creepy. Thank Goodness we had the Sullivans, Paars, Hopes, and Bennys, not only variety shows but everything from live drama's, comedies, and westerns to the best kids shows ever, so much talent on display. How lucky we were!!

Comments about talking dogs not eating chocolate? Missing the magic. Jimmy is a master.

Sometimes I sing that song, put my open wallet in front of my face, sing "chocolate" and snap it shut. People think, What's with that crazy old guy?

No one knew that when Farfel was a pup.

(Shudders) why is there a _click_ when his mouth closes...

"Dogs _love_ it!" Actually, chocolate isn't safe for dogs, as they can't assimilate the theobromine (similar to caffeine) it contains.
