Met Sally Starr about 18 years ago. What a nice sweet lady!! She was on my TV every morning in the late 60s before going to school!!! Damn, if we could only go back to the wonderful 60s and 70s!!!! These times now suck..😂

I loved Sally Starr, Popeye Theater! I can still see her running her hands along the edges of her cowgirl hat saying, "All right-a-roony!"

To Philadelphians, young and old, Sally was like a favorite family member along with good ol' Chief Halftown and Gene London.

Popeye Theater, by far, the best cartoon show ever in Philadelphia. Popeye, Felix, Bugs, the Stooges, Clutch Cargo. The best!

You haven't lived until Paoli Dry Cleaners mistakenly exchanges your perma-pressed Farrah Slacks - with Chubby Checker's!

She was a pip! Sally was often a wee bit tipsy on her Philadelphia show, which explains why my mom liked to watch her with me. One time, as usual, she was to catch a leather satchel containing fan mail, tossed to her off screen. However, one morning, they threw the satchel and it knocked her flat on her fanny. I remember she and the crew laughing it up as the continued filming her on the floor! I'm happy she lived to a grand old age.
