The more Tony tweets, the more you realize that the only difference between him and the wrestling fans he's arguing with on Twitter is that their dads weren't multi-billionaires that could fund their wrestling booker fantasies.

Never got why so many people would say things like "Tony is a nice guy" - it's blatantly obvious from his interactions with Fulham fans for years that he is thin-skinned and somewhat narcissistic. He is nice to people as long as they are sucking up to him, but if they are even slightly critical he gets comically defensive

I watched weekly for probably the first 9 months or so and liked it fit awhile but then it changed to something I no longer enjoy. I still want it to succeed but have accepted its growth potential is slim to none because Tony and the fans actively work to not do things that would grow the audience and anything someone says would be a good chance for growth gets brushed off as hate. Kinda sad honestly because they have all you could want to be a strong alternative product in the market if they had any interest to expand their audience but they don’t

Tony’s problem is that he says he’s a rasslin’ guy but he’s completely incapable of working anyone. And instead of taking tips from MJF, one of the best in the business at working people, he’s talking to Chris Jericho. If he wants to talk to a legend, there’s Sting, Malenko, Billy Gunn and others who are infinitely more qualified. If he’d listened to Cornette instead of his peers, AEW would be turning a profit now.

Tony and his fanbase are genuinely fascinating. Somehow both have acted in ways that consistently destroy the goodwill that Tony and the company should easily have in the wrestling market. As a whole we should all see AEW and Tony in a positive light and want to root for their success to grow into a strong alternative to the WWE. And because of how Tony and the online fanbase of AEW act it becomes hard to root for them at times because of how pompous or wishy washy they can often be over stupid shit. Tony should be seen with goodwill because from all accounts he is a good dude who takes care of the wrestlers working for him. Seeing him signing people through the pandemic when it would’ve been reasonable to put a freeze on that and providing people jobs during a time like that is cool. Keeping talents through their deals rather than cutting them loose out of nowhere like a WWE, especially during the pandemic when they definitely could have and would’ve been justified business wise to do so is cool. Letting people leave when he could’ve forced them to stay like a Cody or Regal again is a cool thing to do. All of that stuff tells you that as a whole he’s a good dude who has good intentions in what he does in a business famous for the opposite. A guy who does all of that shouldn’t ever be seen poorly but somehow he does stupid shit pretty often over silly things that lead to people seeing him poorly. Whether it’s the tweets he puts out that are genuinely surprising to think a company owner would ever have or the random times he feels disrespected and puffs his chest out on shit. Or the wishy washy way he portrays himself as the victim from a WWE tampering with his talents, scheduling shows around or near his shows, or when a PPV of theirs ends up on the same weekend as one of his but in the same breath will then fire back about his knowledge, booking talents or deep pockets and how he won’t be bullied in the market. Or his inconsistency about how he talks to media when he attacks the ones he dislikes but praises the ones he does (generally based on if they compliment or disagree with whatever he’s doing). We can’t forget the random accusations that make no sense, and he never provides proof of, about any social media anything that says something negative about AEW. His hypocrisy about being a transparent company but then refusing to provide any comment or clarification of any kind about various rumors or issues and often allows to fester. Or even something as relatively benign as hiring brilliant minds of wrestling to his company but then being so arrogant about what he knows to actively not follow their advice and counsel. Then he has a fanbase that band together to defend or attack everything that doesn’t align with whatever position AEW wants people to have. I mean the fanbase spent the last week on Twitter finding every justification, insult and excuse for why promoting an unknown wrestler to a casual viewer is a bad thing to do and why the company shouldn’t do such things. Outside of attacking people the fanbase actively gate keeps the promotion to discourage the audience from growing. There shouldn’t be any reason that AEW isn’t viewed extremely positively by wrestling fans and overflow with goodwill from their market. But thanks to Tony and the fanbase they’ve somehow ruined what should be a slam dunk considering who the alternative happens to be in the market. It really is just a wild thing to see happening and will be the reason the product never grows and may eventually fail as everyone actively works to keep new fans away from their product like that is a good thing to be doing. Amazing really and unfortunately sad for a company that had everything one could ask to be a strong alternative within the market for years to come.

Putting an alleged "dream match" with zero build on live TV in less than a week's notice is the most Tony Khan thing I can think of without mentioning the almighty Tony Montana 🤣 I'm aware that there's been some buildup in Mexico but not too many people know about that. They could've very easily had a program where Vikingo shows up at the next PPV in a battle Royale and then calls out Omega, with each passing week we get a promo package that gives us the history of this feud, ultimately leading to the supposed dream match happening at Full Gear, but instead Mr. Booker of the Year just assumes that everybody watches every wrestling show ever created. How is it a dream match when probably 90% of the audience hasn't even heard of one of the competitors?
