I meet him at Walmart in late 80's when he was doing an autograph. He was so nice and so electric. Him and Dusty Rhodes are still 2 of my favorite wrestlers of all time

I think him & JYD would have made a great tag team. the charisma scale for those two would been through the roof.

Remember Jimmy used to use the song with the chorus "Talking bout the boy from New York City" he could've come back as a babyface because fans knew of him all ready. BTW, if you can find any old matches of Beautiful Bobby from the WWWF, his entrance music would be played by the ring announcer holding a small portable tape player up to his mike.

Dusty Rhodes gimmick in the WWF wasn't that much different to the Boogie Woogie Man in JCP. Jimmy would have got over anywhere.

Jimmy Valiant was also a former WWWF World Tag Team champion, so he already has credibility there.

The Sheepherders got that act over, Jimmy would with no problem. Jimmy got over wherever he went, whether face or heel or Boogie Man or Handsome Jimmy; Indianapolis, Chicago, Memphis, New York, Charlotte, got over like a million bucks in all of them.

I was watching old episodes of Jim Crockett Promotions' WCW show from January 1986 here on KZread last night, and all these dumb assholes in the comments were talking shit on The Boogie Woogie man, saying he was 44 but looked 74, saying he looked like a batshit crazy wino, saying it was "sad" seeing him "like that" as if he didnt have "it" anymore, and I'm just like...wtf are you idiots talking about? Hes GREAT! Incredibly entertaining promos, incredibly entertaining matches, amazing entrance music...I just dont friggin get it. The big bushy beard was part of the gimmick and seeing him cut an amazing Dusty Rhodes-esque promo with this enormous beard while also wearing this orange beanie is what caught my eye and piqued my initial interest (I'd never heard of Valiant before last night, you see) and then watching his AMAZING brawling, street-fight style of wrestling (which actually looked pretty damn real and definitely was innovative and hell) is what immediately hooked me and made me a new fan of The Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant. I'm absolutely one of the Street People now! Just do not know what makes some dumbassholes spout such dumb ass shit! And they call themselves "old school rasslin fans!" FEH! Bandwagoning hipsters more like. These motherfuckers ain't STREET PEOPLE, daddeh! No suh! 🤘🤘

I agree that he could've gotten over anywhere. I also think that his antics as the Boogie Woogie Man would have made him a good fit as a third member of the Sheepherders.

As I understand it, DC was actually a fairly big town for the old WWWF. James Dudley ran it, and that's why WWE still makes such a big deal out of him. Blassie actually talked a fair amount about working DC in his book.

diggitydave3000 What's interesting is that Baltimore was a hotbed for both WWWF and NWA, and just an hour or so NE of Washington. Both ran shows at the Civic Center, and the WWWF did a lot of their production work in Owings Mills, just outside Baltimore.

Yes, growing up in the 80’s wwf always came to the Dc area; it was the capital center in landover Md, just 7 minutes outside of DC. When they tore down the arena, they built The MCI arena in downtown Dc. Which is now the capital one arena. Those were great times in the 80’s. WWF came to the capital center every month.

Valiant was the fucking worst. His popularity is hands down the most mind boggling thing that ever happened in the history of the wrestling. The only things more horrible than his in-ring work, were his interviews, mannerisms, ring outfits, and every single other thing about him. His existence was only made tolerable by the fact that he was buried on the bottom of the card with those other wastes of space Paul Jones and Pez Whatley, and their appearance offered a good opportunity to get up and get a refreshment
