A lot of young wrestlers nowadays could learn how to do promos like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and a host of others, that knew how to be articulate, while at the same time, letting you know that they still have the intensity to back up in the ring, what they say on the Mic! Wooooooooooo!!!!!

Harley Race was a Man's MAN. I saw Him and Lex Luger 1 night at a Mobile Station in Baltimore MD getting gas and snacks, Luger was Huge but Race was Like My Dad 100% Man.

Race didn't have a bodybuilder's physique, never had. But the steel bar that was embedded inside his left forearm was what made him feared by many. He would ram his left forearm with such force that his opponent would have trouble gasping for air afterward.

I talked to Harley race on the phone maybe 15 years ago ....he wanted me to lay some flooring for him in eldon mo.. but it was to far from my home . I got a good cussin😂 I just said ok ... ok then... well thanks for calling. He was my grandpa’s favorite wrestler so I was honored to be cussed a little

Two out of the top 5 of all time right there!

The best testament to just how great they were, to me, is that they would wrestle a 60-minute match & it felt as though they only did 15 or 20 minutes. Time flies when you're having fun!

In his promos he never needed to yell to get his point across.

Two of the greatest ever I was able to watch them wrestle for an hour at memorial hall in Kansas City.. Thanks for the memories that's what made me a wrestling fan!

With Harley Race, I'd rank high up there with Bruno Sammartino & Lou Thesz. With Ric Flair, not so much, but he's a great worker.

I remember seeing Harley race take on bulldog bob brown at memorial hall in k.c.k., they also had starcade 86' via closed circuit t.v. that night too.

@@Johnny.1965 damn that would Starrcade 86 I do remember that but wasn’t able to go. I have so many great memories there. I saw Flair right race to a hour draw. I saw flair Vs Brody and a Brody Vs race match. Great stuff!

Picking up were they left off. I saw them at Tampa stadium in 1980 the last tangle in Tampa which was a precursor of wrestlemania 5 years later see the video of it. It was great

@ Paul Grieshop Yes you a hundred percent correct, Harley Race was a favorite in Tampa in the 70's & 80's, if Harley was on the card at Fort Hormer Hestley Armory on Tuesday Night, you could pretty much have a sell out. My Grandma loved Harley Race. She would say in her Swedish accent, "oooo det Harley Race, hees so mean." I took her to see the "raslin" match in Duluth Mn. I think it was Handsome Harley and Larry "Pretty Boy" Hennig against da Crusher and da Bruiser. Great fun! It was late 70's or early 80's.

Man the stories and the times they probably talked about AFTER the careers , the friendships they developed and told to the Grand kids .

I was just a kid when these 2 went at it and boy did they leave me with some awesome memories. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories. What you put your bodies through and being away from your own families just to entertain us fans. I say thank you so very much.

Many people have negative things to say about Flair. Some may be true, some false but to his credit, he is loyal to his friends and happy to see his fans. And when asked to help people in the business he is usually obliging as he is here. The guy helped make this industry grow and is highly entertaining. And he respects the other legends like Harley.

High schools, beer halls, it didn't matter to them because they always put on a great show for the fans.

My favorite Harley Race story: He was pulled over for speeding. Turned out it was a citizen making a citizen's arrest. When Harley realized the guy wasn't a cop he punched him in the face, left him on the side of the road, and drove away.

Is Harley still able to talk though? I ask only because he didn't talk in this video.

I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, BUT I have watched Harley Race many many times on the mic, and in many matches. He was average at best on the mic, and his in ring skills were much the same. He was very slow and methodical, to the point of being boring.
