Ray probably spent 6 hours preparing a slice for camera, placing every pepperoni and hand melting every string of cheese with a BIC lighter to perfection. He couldn't stomach that his creation would be stomached by Jim.

Ironically, a more convincing advertisement for the pizza than the actual ad.

Nice "Leprechaun" reference. I still remember the TV ads for the first film...they'd show the credit block and a stern announcer would say the film's title, followed by the leprechaun screaming, "I need me gold!"

Regardless of the guy is doing his job, at this point it’s getting borderline physical and not one person felt it was appropriate to come step in and try to help. They all just kind of watched and said it did anything.

Someone will get chewed out by a department head, then excessively do their job to the point where it annoys people because they’re trying not to get fired or do a bad job. Because there’s a high stress culture on big production sets where it’s like if you fuck up you’re out of here. If this were a real shoot, pizzahut would have sent them two dozen extra large pizzas free of charge for actors and crew. They would all have had as much pizza as they wanted before the shoot starts. They would not be needing to swich the slices between very take, it was the same topping anyway. They'd keep the camera rolling and the actor would keep saying his lines in quick sucession. They would not be shooting right beside a pool for no reason. If something like this happened, there'd be small chances it got recorded this well. Everything about this spells staged viral-marketing. It's good to be able to notice shit like that so that you aren't too gullible.

he went from actor in a scripted spoof to an actor in a scripted spoof.

They had a choice between showing people literally fighting over their pizza as an ad on tv or having a guy say “kaboom” and choose the later. This would’ve been huge and way ahead of it’s time

I saw Jim's stand up in NY years ago. He had me belly laughing to the point my abs hurt. Very funny guy. So glad he pushed that guy into the pool. Hilarious

A friend of mine is a food/advertising photographer. He says you have to put acid on the food for vapor effects, put pins in, spray varnish on it, etc etc. That pizza is probably very dangerous.

In adverts, the food is often actually not real - glues and non edible ingredients are used to make them look more appetising for the camera. If this is genuine, which incidentally I'm not sure about, it's likely that the pizza wasn't actually edible

He was getting in his face because it was his job to retrieve the prop from the actor. He literally tells him "it's for the camera" which means they probably spent a lot of time to get the "perfect" slice of pizza for the camera, which can sometimes include nonedible items that photograph better than the real thing. This is absolutely inexcusable and unprofessional by Jim.

Im totally on Jim's side. His laugh at the end had me in stitches.
