Jesus: A Pilgrimage

Based on his recent book by the same name, Father Martin provides stories and scholarship that seeks to reconcile the historical Jesus with the Christ of faith.

The Synoptic Gospels gave me an insight along side the Historical Jesus....I think that there is a polarisation where the extremes are like a road rising before myself with signs or pointers to the way of Christ!

The Holy Bible, Numbers 10:35 “Arise, O Lord, and let Thy enemies be scattered and let them that hateThee flee from before Thy Face”.

What this Martin guy showed me was the love of God. His presentation helped open my heart to God's love. An intelligent man who knows how to communicate.

The donkey of the bible Balaam is far more intelligent than this perverted idiot The Donkey Speaks for God That was all that the donkey could take from Balaam because it wasn’t the donkey’s fault so “Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a fool of me. I wish I had a sword in my hand, for then I would kill you” (Num 22:28-29). What a strange occurrence here. Balaam is so angry that he doesn’t notice that he’s having a conversation with a donkey! Sometimes human anger can be so great that we lose all sense of rationality and logic. Then “the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long to this day? Is it my habit to treat you this way?” And he said, “No” (Numb 22:30).

I just hope that that kind and helpful German Benedictine in the chapel that you mention at 12' will never have to witness the laughter he excited when you talk about how he was helping you to find what you had been looking for a long time. Humour is a wonderful thing, but German bashing is not, especially not in intellectual places like Boston College. Most Germans have at least a basic command of English, many speak it very well and even know one or more other foreign languages. Pity, I like so much how you emphasize tolerance and love.
