I'm a Philly girl who adores you!

I grew up in the 1950's and 1960 and attended Catholic grade and high schools. I can still remember every sullen, unhappy, even mean nuns in the various orders. I hope things have changed.

Our Heavenly Father says (present tense) “Be Holy as I am Holy”. 1 Peter 5 : “Discipline yourselves...be alert and sober minded......devil is on the prowl waiting to devour somebody”. The Holy Bible never said to be jokers, homosexuals in clerical garb living off generous unsuspecting Catholics, laugh at the cost of others etc.

Lord have mercy on us and in the whole world

I find nothing wrong with a priest making jokes and spreading joy. I believe Fr James brings many people to Christ with his lectures, books and media appearances. It is for Christ to judge his life; not us as sinners ourselves.

"Joy" and "Happiness" as defined by Our Lord Jesus Christ have nothing to do with jokes or being funny all the time. Let's not forget The Beatitudes where Jesus describes what TRUE HAPPINEES is.

I believe it makes reference to the rewording of the Nicene Creed to the more proper English translation from the original Latin.

Heresies are being spread nearly daily against the Catholic Church. The Church that Jesus Christ started with so many treasures. These treasures are being whisked away by misdirections by so many men of the collar that appears to go all the way to its head. In our confusing times, we need solid dogmatic teachings (with humor) on the narrow path instead of the wide road to perdition. Trained in high school by the Jesuits, I still find a few that understand the magnitude of staying within the boundaries of truth and not be tricked by relativism. To understand and underscore that marriage is only between one man and one woman is still taught by priests with convictions to the Triune God. For if any man lead His children astray, it would be better to have a millstone around their neck and thrown into the sea. Stephen Colbert is a comic genius with Catholic roots, but he has chosen to dishonor his LORD when he leads with his pro choice antics. This is not funny. Is it important to bring everyone into the Church that Jesus started? Yes, but not on our terms, but God's... We certainly have free-will, and those that put themselves first through heinous acts sexual perversion will certainly meet their Maker with a surprise. I pray for all our men of the cloth to stay within the lanes of Church teachings, and to help Guide those confused souls with faith and reason to make the right choice. Not the choice of their loins. This is for James Martin to ponder...PAX. Jim

Humor may be a good thing, but it should be used with PRUDENCE as to not over do it or depend on it. In the Holy Scriptures Our Lord Jesus Christ is depicted in serious situations that did not call for the use "humor" AT ALL!!. Father Martin seems to be CONSTANLY cracking jokes and taking things lightly UNLIKE Our Lord. (Something to think about)
