Ойын-сауық

On Broadway, 1996, with Jerry Lewis, Valerie Wright, and David Elder. Re-uploaded from the lesser quality version I previously had on my channel.

Watching this with happy tears rolling down my face. I was lucky enough to be on this tour.. (That's me on the organ at the very top of the overture). Jerry was truly a wonderful person onstage and off. The cast, crew and musicians were a dream to work with and Jerry was our fearless leader. He took such great care of us and we were the happiest touring company ever.

Would you be interested in being interviewed on your experiences on the production and with Jerry? I interview different people for this youtube channel, and some people on their experiences meeting Jerry Lewis. It would be interesting to hear about your experiences! My email is kay2043838@gmail.com if you would like to set something up. :)

Had the pleasure of seeing him perform this live. Was walking through Times Square with a friend and we were handed tickets to the performance that was about to start. We walked right in and I've never forgotten it to this day.

In 1996 he was 70 years old if I'm not mistaken. She still manages to dance and sing at the same time and hold the scene beautifully. With a double by-pass. And he managed to get the stick :) It was a force of nature. Wonderful Jerry, we miss you so much. I love you.

Val was my Charity. How lucky was I to see her do this with my old buddy Jarrod Emick and Jerry, in the mid-90s. All phenomenal. A favorite experience.

My 1st Broadway show (original cast), but I viewed this re-revival at the Lincoln Center Archives. So much joy in both versions.

2:00:35 Jerry in fine form physical comedy. Once he got his chronic physical pain under control, he was back to his original genius best, even in advanced age. Absolutely brilliant.

Having seen the original cast of this revival the standouts to me are still the score, the orchestrations, and the direction & choreography. I grew up on Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin (what? Dean Martin as Applegate??) but am so disappointed to see him walk through this, minimal energy and terrible schtick. Bring back Ray Walston & Victor Garber!

I don`t know, maybe it`s just me. But does Jerry Lewis`s acting seem kind of wooden and like he`s going thru the motions? I mean I know he` alot older here, but he just does`nt seem like he`s as excited to be in a broadway show. All the other performers are really putting their all in their rolls, but Jerry`s just acting like he`s taking a stroll in the park or something.

He is playing the Devil, suave, cynical, Las Vegas style - as a contrast to everyone else.

The award he won was well deserved in my opinion. I don't think that was simply because somebody world famous took over a role on Broadway. Check out around the second hour again. You might see something there you like.

He wanted to be held back in the first half so that people would start to miss his usual crazy persona. It's calculated, he stays quite restrained until at the end of the first act he teases the audience with his classic "laaaaadyyyyy", then in the second half it builds up and the audience wants it and then you get some great Jerry Lewis material.
