Here are the lyrics of this song: It's not simple to say Most days I don't recognize me These shoes and this apron That place and its patrons Have taken more than I gave 'em It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used to be Although it's true I was never attention sweet center I still remember that girl She's imperfect but she tries She is good but she lies She is hard on herself She is broken and won't ask for help She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up And baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine It's not what I asked for Sometimes life just slips in through a back door And carves out a person And makes you believe it's all true And now I've got you And you're not what I asked for If I'm honest I know I would give it all back For a chance to start over And rewrite an ending or two For the girl that I knew Who be reckless just enough Who can hurt but Who learns how to toughen up when she's bruised And gets used by a man who can't love And then she'll get stuck and be scared Of the life that's inside her Growing stronger each day 'Til it finally reminds her To fight just a little To bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone but it used to be mine Used to be mine She is messy but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone but she used to be mine

@knopflerfan9069

@@varyak4698 That's the only way to really explain a half step, but I can try. So say you've got the notes A and B. If the music goes right from A to B, with nothing in between, that would be a whole step, because it is rising by one entire note. But in between each whole step is a half step, which for A and B would be A# or Bb, which are the same note written one way or the other depending on whether the note is going lower or higher, sharp/# being higher and flat/b being higher. So when Jeremy goes from a G to a G#, he raises the pitch by half of a musical step. He does so flawlessly I might add- no break between the notes, he just slides smoothly into the G#
by far, the most effective and most emotional rendition of this masterpiece.
There’s something about Jeremy Jordan that his acting feels so organic, like he’s not thinking about what to do next. Like in that short time he’s performing, he is that character.
I think the thing that makes Jeremy so good isn't his voice cause his voice is absolutely incredible and beautiful but the thing that really sells it at least for me is the emotion that he puts in to every performance it's the way that he makes you understand how he feels with his words
@caseycarter910

This is amazing. I do wish I had learned about Jeremy before I watched the Tangled series because every time I hear that sweet voice sing, I can't help but see Varian before me. He puts the same emotion in this song as he did with Eden Espinoza in 'Nothing left to lose'
Ok this seriously needs some kind of a warning in the title or something. I am a truck driver and this popped up in my random recommended and I had to find somewhere to pull over because I couldn't see to drive through the tears. And that was just from listening to it. Watching it brought a whole new level of feels. Am I the only one that had full body shivers?

Oh no! It's all fun and jokes.
The way he conveys the emotions in the words is just amazing (everything about this is). The insecurity for example in words like 'she is good' and the surity in the words 'but she lies'. In the same way we as humans are very sure and ready to name the things we don't like about ourselves but so unsure and hesitant to talk about ourselves in a positive way. Thank you for this beautiful rendition, Jeremy Jordan 💛
An untouchable talent. One of the best male vocalists around. I can listen to him sing anything.
I love how with this miscast opportunity he didn’t just sing the song in a male key and gave a good vocal performance- he put his own pain and emotion to connect to this song and strayed from the melody to really make the song his own and to give it his personal touch. He’s brilliant
“Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl)” EXCUSE ME WHAT?! THAT SHOULD DEFINITELY SAY “ Jeremy Jordan (Newsies)” OR “ Jeremy Jordan (Bonnie & Clyde) “ OR AT LEAST ONE OF HIS MUSICAL ROLES

The importance of emoting in music!!!! He took a song by and about a pregnant woman in an abusive relationship finding herself and turned it into a song by a man who is in love with a pregnant woman he’s lost and recognizing all of the things he loves about her even her flaws. Gives it a different feel… AND WITHOUT CHANGING THE WORDS !!!! 😍😍 storytelling is an art.
I could listen to him sing for hours!

How is this the best version I have ever heard of the song? So powerful, it gave me the goose bumps. And the original is already one of my all-time favourite songs. Jordan makes you believe every word is true, he makes you feel the pain, he makes you believe all this actually happened to him despite the obvious improbability. This is the reason why Miscast is such a brilliant idea.
I saw a post somewhere that said “if you remove a straight white man’s pockets, will they still be able to act?” and all I can think of is this

Well yeah, it's Jeremy Freaking Jordan!! A broadway KING!!!
For a girl who'd been neglected by her own family, I am a survivor and always been kind. I am proud.
I've stopped compairing this version to others. Each singer interprets it beautifully, Jeremy Jordan takes every song he interprets to a different dimension. It's like listening to a completely different song, a different story.

I like how i can take this version like he was in love with a girl who lost her spark and hurt by the world but he still loves her
how dare he just so casually send me into emotional turmoil with that voice
the absolute emotion in his voice, his face, his everything... chills forever Jeremy Jordan could sing a take-out menu and it'd be my new favourite song
Every time I watch this, I keep imagining it’s in the point of view of a father speaking/singing to his newborn baby about his wife who died during childbirth🥺. Their marriage was rocky and messy, and now having this innocent newborn to take care of, he recognizes that and is filled with regret for not cherishing her when he had her. So he tells the baby about what a wonderful person the mother was before the pregnancy, before he lost her and it just makes me tear up🤧
Several things that came to mind watching this: 1) Goose bumps. Tears. Shock. 2) JJ's eye brow game is just as strong here. 3) Is he ever going to come back to Broadway?

I have listened to all versions of this song that I can find and I am most authentically moved by this straight-non-pregnant-man. Such emotion and the ability to convey it, is indeed a rare gift. He should never again leave Broadway. (And, he should start dropping studio albums daily! j/k kind of)
