This video is a bit missed leading in my opinion, yes Jordan was a big part of making it being green lighting. I would say he would be better than Zac Efron, but Jackman was the only reason why it got green light at the end of the day. It was in his interest for many moons. Make no mistake.

@@scottvrichey Yes, "Never Enough" that was actually sung by Loren Allred. The BluRay commentary talks about it. Allred was hired as a stand-in, just like Jeremy was, and actress Rebecca Ferguson was supposed to sing it in the movie. After hearing Allred though, she told the director, "I can sing, but not like that!" and suggested that she lipsync to Allred's vocals. So the two spent weeks together, with Ferguson copying every mannerism down to the veins on Allred's neck. She did an incredible job. The good thing about this story is that Ferguson didn't put her own ego above what's good for the movie. She realized Allred is a much better singer and was willing to put in the extra work required to lipsync. Because of Ferguson and the director, Allred's career was launched.

@@scottvrichey Having seen his video and some other talks it doesn't seem like they ever straight up lied to him. They never said he was getting the role, when he did the demo everything was above board. However it really gets disrespectful when they called him up and asked him to pay for the ticket and obviously a place to stay. It would have been one thing if the movie got greenlit they were going to cast him. That would be him taking a risk and it's part of the business, you win some you lose some. It's the fact that they must have known that he was going there thinking this was his audition, but knew they had never any intention of casting him because Jackman wanted Efron. So really they were just asking him to do them a big favor, and you know what that would have been okay if they had been upfront and honest about it. Him knowing those two guys that he helped do the original demos for, that's a really shitty thing to do a friend. It's why after hearing Witver talk about Lucas film my respect for them grew immensely (no matter what one might thing of their recent output). When asking for a favor they A) say "can you please do us a favor" and B) will remember that you did that favor for them, so as long as you don't bug them about wanting a job. They will find other ways to pay the favor back down the line in some way. At the very least as friends they could have backed him up after he did rewrite the stars, or right after they got the greenlight and in front of everyone say "thanks for helping us and the attempt at the high notes Jeremy we know that you can actually do that part and that you shouldn't really be singing right now because of your voice. We apricate it." I hope that Jackman didn't know about that part of Jeremy flying himself out, didn't know who he was and just thought it was a stand in the guys had brought in with no expectations. Because if he did know, especially if he heard the demos before the presentation. I know Jeremy said he tried to get out of there once he realized what was going on. But Jackman or his friends could have gone straight to him, taken him aside, said thank you. Be man enough to say "you really are a fantastic talent it's just that I've/we've been in talks and part of getting the greenlight was this and getting Efron on board", and reimbursed him for what it cost him to get and be there. Not like Jeremy is a struggling actor who could barley pay his rent, yet for me it's the principle of a thing. Guy did everything required of him and more, making the project happen for Jackman, not so much as a thank you. Because I get it, Efron is a much bigger attraction, he obviously would look great next to Zendaya so even though Efron isn't actually able to sing rewrite the stars without a cracked falsetto like Jeremy and Zendaya can. His looks, charisma, being a bigger star and the fact that he also is a great singer just not as great as Jeremy. In this business pure talent isn't always enough, from an artist perspective you would pick Jeremy. As a business decision if at that time you could get Efron and Zendaya, Jeremy never stood a chance. Rejection is such a big part of the job, but this wasn't a rejection it was: "You know you would really be doing us a big favor" without actually explaining that it would be a favor.

Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman would go on to use his demos as the framework for their official renditions of the songs. You can still hear it in the songs if you go back. Loren Alred and Jeremy recorded demos but Loren was fortunate enough to have her song carry on into the official cut. No credit was given to Jeremy as a demo artist. Truely saddening.

@@justlittleolme7977well and emotionally you have to think from Jackman’s perspective: **Finally! My love and passion for musical theater can be fully embraced and expressed! I’m not just “Wolverine” to people, anymore!** Them he suddenly can’t sing for health reasons, making the movie production extremely difficult to gage (for both actor and singer) and then suddenly- out of nowhere, Jackman can sing again! He can sing for his movie! He wasn’t disappointed after all that he couldn’t TRULY take part in his role. But yes, the Efron ting does sting, I will admit. These are both such great perspectives. And also a reminder of just how brutal the entertainment industry is. Everyone has a story and something they want so badly. But even the tremendous amount of deserved success that Jeremy has had is something a hundred others have given every bit of their heart into pursuing, and come up short. That’s why I appreciated this KZread video so much as a reminder of all the people who yearn to tell stories. Edited to add: did the producers of the film really make him fly himself out on his own dime to perform in this demo for free? I know many people would absolutely still kill for that opportunity (including the nameless other people in the room), so I get anyone saying yes.

It would have been an amazing film with him in that lead role, Zack is a good actor but this man is humble and that is the reason he is so loved by many. We are all in some form of competition, it can break you when your cast aside but true warriors don’t get held back they overcome and move forward. What a story to tell, one not made by Disney or Hollywood but one that will be a lesson for his children!

Why should Hugh not have sung there? He didn't know that Jeremy was counting on it as a redemption moment - he's a big-time Broadway actor. This was a musical that Hugh had been involved with for a long time and it was killing him not to be able to do what had always been HIS role. He was the reason the potential investors were there. He feels a deep connection to the song. And did the composers even tell Hugh they had promised the role to Jeremy? Hugh wasn't one of the producers. He wasn't responsible for casting. Why is he taking the blame for doing something that he was there to do?

I fell in love with her voice, her charisma and her duets with Katharine McPhee were so amazing ❤ The Greatest Showman is one of my favorite movies for its actors (Hugh Jackman 🙏) but for all of its songs and "From now on" is a good example of what makes the movie so powerful. Thank goodness Jeremy Jordan was there to work a miracle and give us a wonderful movie 💖🤩💫 He deserves more recognition worldwide!👍

Just want to remind him that had he not been the part and person he played and is this world would be joyous be pleased that your singing inspires other people to want to sing, yes Hugh continued singing, but it is you that inspired him to such a feeling that he couldn't help himself. Remember when you inspire a feeling inside some one it makes a difference, and although you may feel like it was taken away from you you are part of something truly amazing. Love your voice and don't forget you are a in a million😘😘

Thank you for showcasing his talent once again. Hollywood is a fickle place. Regardless it will never diminish your talent. Hoping you embrace who you are. Brilliance 🎉 Off on another gripe. The movie Australia where the young Brandon Walter’s played Nullah. This charismatic young 12 year old was the movie. A natural. They paid him a lousy $100K.

Here is the thing, this situation shows what a nice guy Jeremy is. But if they ain't gonna fly you, and no contract for the role...hard pass. I know it sounds like an opportunity but has this paid off for Jeremy for the composers putting him in anything? Grrr. I'm glad we can hear Jeremy's vocals, cause he is amazing and talented but I despise when people are asked to work for free/exposure. Just completely unfair.

I honestly wish there was a movie about this, I think it’d be a great representation of musical theater treatment in the bright lights world of hollywood. Idk if I’d want it to end happier or at least with the hope of something more for the character but i would definitely title it ‘the Greatest showman’ as reference to his story.

I knew he could sing because several times during its run, Supergirl had musical numbers, including an entire episode, and both Jeremy and Melissa Benoist, who were former musical stars from other shows, were the featured voices every time. Personally, I would have loved to see him play Philip Carlysle in this movie. Zac Efron gets enough parts--just once, I'd like to see Jeremy get the recognition he deserves for his musical chops as much as for his acting chops.

Hugh was engaging and I felt his emotion in the lyrics and it was moving. That led me to this video and I am disappointed that this guy did not get the part he wanted!!!! I have not seen the movie and I'm not a big Zach Efron fan.....I mean if he's starring or playing a role in anything it doesn't sway me to watch the movie either way. After seeing this....if Jeremy Jordan is going to be in a movie......this will sway my mind to watch it for certain!!!
