Jeep Wangler NSG370 6 Speed Transmission Rebuild (Its Awesome)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We’ve been telling you that we’ve been working on this and NSG370. Well it’s done and we’re going to give you our opinion of it in this video. Actually, I’ll give it to you right here. The transmission is extremely smooth and with the addition of the B&M shifter its a joy to shift. Harley and I are extremely satisfied with the transmission now. 1st gear was a little tough getting it to engage. 3rd gear made a horrible growl under acceleration and coast but this is all fixed and were beyond happy. The videos that follow will show how we rebuilt it and we even added some bracing to the bottom of the housing in the event of hitting a rock.

@@RubiKidd06 got to o mine too. Reverse is bad about popping out and 3rd is noisy if I dont go slow. I’m about to do the suspension now and I’m using the day stars you guys used with the teraflex rear spring buckets. I went rock crawler 3 link and triangulated rear. Love your videos guys good work. Keep having fun!

Yup those are pretty standard issues with the transmission. Awesome that your using our idea on the rear Teraflex/Daystar combo. It turned out really well. Appreciate the nice words.

My wife has a 2015 jk with 6 speed. It pops out of gear in 4th but, it also grinds a little going into 5th. Will that b&m fix both issues? I also live in NC. If it won't fix the grinding? Will you guys rebuild her trans? Just had someone put in s clutch and now it sounds like the throw out bearing is slready hoing out or they didn't put it in correctly

That looks awesome! Not an ounce of wobble or vibration in the shifter. When you had the OEM shifter did you guys get the huge amounts of shifter shaft wobble? I'm about to do this rebuild myself (stand by for a million questions :) ) and my shifter shaft flails side to side on bumps almost 2"... Keep up the good work lads!

Some wobble but not horrible. Harley’s shifter tower was still in pretty good condition but the B&M was a hugh upgrade. 👍👍👍

@@RubiKidd06 Yeah, its looked great in your test drive, but its an enormous outlay of cash here in Australia with all the added taxes and currency conversion (US$1200), so i'm on the fence about whether to get it. In lieu of watching your videos (great work btw!) i've revised my rebuild plan so now i'll open the case up, and see what items actually need replacing and what are ok (like you mention in 4.1) then i'll order my parts. Thanks again for the tips!

With my 2000 Sahara it has the ax15 thats really what I would like with mine is a short throw shifter because the last vehicle I had that was a manual was a car and it seems there alot of space in that shifter to select gears.i would rather grab and go than looking to find the gear a manual trans is good with going downhill serves kinda like a Jake break keeps vehicle slow and steady while keeping control

I have that same transmission. I have a tick with rpm (loudest at 2k rpm) and when I get underneath the Jeep, it sounds like it’s coming from the bell housing area. I have replaced the clutch, TO bearing, etc…. My question is if you had some sort of tick before the rebuild. It happens with clutch in or out. I don’t believe it is my motor due to the location of the sound. Any input would be appreciated. Input shaft bearing????? Im looking into a rebuild. It still shifts great.

So the transmission is in neutral when your testing? A previous video where I showed the damage caused from water damage has the input shaft showing the damage caused by the pilot bearing. The pilot bearing had worn a grove into it. Also you said that you changed the Throw out bearing but you did change the pilot also correct?

  • @williampetit314

@@RubiKidd06 yes, pilot bearing was changed as well. Weather in neutral or in gear, the tick is still present.

Is the nsg370 problematic or is it a good transmission

  • @RubiKidd06

I’m always told their over engineered. We totally rebuilt ours but, there was another issue other than the transmission that was causing the noise. There was some worn parts but I really don’t think ours needed rebuilt. The fork shifter pads are known for breaking and causing a lot of shifting issues. Lots of specialized tools required for rebuild amount to some people being not to happy with them. As for Harley's Rubicon, the nsg370 will stay in there permanently. He loves it. Good luck.

Dang, for the price of tools and the B&M shifter, forks, etc, I’d rather just buy one remanufactured. Super sucks, I’d rather do it myself, but still.

It’s always rewarding doing a rebuild yourself but the amount of tools required might stop a lot of people. I’d still rebuild it but thats me speaking.
