Thank you so much! I got that clip directly from the IIHS. Unfortunately, they are not releasing new AEB evaluation clips, which is why I had to use the clip of the previous generation for illustrative purposes.

That auto braking is pretty slick --- How does auto braking stop the semi-truck behind you?

I have a 2007 jeep grand Cherokee; really hope that I never get in a side or "T-bone" accident in it.

A bit confusing - You switch between the WK/WL model here. Similar cars, but they differ in their chassis, weight, etc. The overlap vehicle is the WL model, which generally speaking has earned good marks.

The IIHS treats these vehicles (regular and L) as interchangeable in the small overlap test because the additional weight of the L is small enough that it won't have a material impact on the rating (both would earn a Good rating). They treat them as separate models in the side impact test because the additional wheelbase of the L is enough of a difference to run separate tests.

To us Jeep Grand Cherokee owners crash safety is not our number one priority. Our number one priority is Jeep heritage and traditions come first, the first generation Grand Cherokee had a plastic fuel tank located all the way to the rear behind the plastic bumper that during a hard rear end collision would become punctured and leak fuel therefore increasing the possibility of a 🔥 fire. Since Jeep can no longer build the new Grand Cherokee with its fuel tank in that location they did strategically build the new generation at first with the fuel tank below the rear driver's side seat with the highest possibility of being punctured and leaking in the event of a side crash with the traditional possibility of going up in 🔥 flames just like the original first generation Grand Cherokee. This is what we call in the Jeep community, " It's A Jeep Thing ", and that's how they built their loyal customer base. Crazy? No, It's a Jeep thing!

So not only will you be injured, you could very possibly be pressure cooked to death- assuming you haven’t been crushed to death due to the lack of a crumble zone- waiting for the fire department to put the fire out and then extract what little if left of you from the heap of metal that was once a Jeep Grand Cherokee? HARD PASS.

But to most faithful Jeep owners that's OK! They know it's a "Jeep thing"and that's a fact 👌.

It is certainly a rough life being a crash test dummy. They must long to ride in a Subaru, and be less damaged.
