Jeep Gladiator Hydro Assist + PSC Big Bore Steering Box

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Prepare for a long one as we install a new PSC Big Bore Steering Box with Hydro Assist! This kit of course comes with a big bore steering box, along with a large fill reservoir, a belt driven pump and hydraulic ram. While the install itself is pretty intensive, with this video, a few tools, and some know-how, you can do this in your garage.
There was some welding and modifications done in order to accommodate our Dana 60 axle and SteerSmarts tie rod assembly but not to worry, also included is a guide for those of you wanting the PSC Big Bore kit for your stock axle setup.
This kit is a life changer for any off-road setup running big tires. The ram assist itself allows you steer those tires back and forth in the roughest terrain, with nothing more than a finger turn and with that cast iron casing on the steering box, the upgrade from aluminum is an easy decision.
This is the last install video for the 2020 Giveaway Gladiator, we're so thankful for all of you who watched our videos, entered the giveaway, and participated in the growth of this channel! We couldn't be happier for our Giveaway Winner Kenny, we wish him safe travels as he takes "Lucky" nearly 4000 miles cross country on his way back to the Land of Lincoln from the Pacific Northwest.
Subscribe and keep an eye out for the video featuring our time with Kenny here at Northridge, where we gave him the keys and spent the day with him at a local ORV out wheeling!

    I installed a JT big bore kit with ram assist last year and it was a night and day difference. The steering is a lot more responsive and made the Jeep fun to drive. I recommend this kit for any one that drives a JL/JT. Great install video North Ridge 4x4.

    Great video my friend. I plan on doing this come late spring. I actually got a chance to wheel with this jeep. Lucky he named it. We did a trail takeover ride together with Light Brite. It went to a great new owner that is using it as attended.

Looking at putting hydraulic assist on my Jeep I like your pricing ,looking forward to maybe seeing you ..LLee

    Great video, helped with a few of the areas where the instructions from PSC lacked. The radiator is now a cylindrical cooler and mounted on the frame rail behind the radiator as well as some of the hosing has been chanced in their kits. Their instructions haven't been updated though so made for a very confusing installation.

  • @GevoA1
    @GevoA12 жыл бұрын

    This is a great upgrade. However, the dial indicator of the factory steering box was done in poor taste as it was extremely misleading.. What that indicator showed was frame twist/movement. This is why you didn't bother putting a dial on the PSC box.. With that said, I do believe the factory aluminum steering box isn't going to hold up with large tires and/or off road for too long. Since aluminum is softer, it tends to "egg out" at the ends of the shaft, which then give you increased play, poor steering and failure. I had two factory aluminum boxes replaced before Jeep finally came out with the steel version I have now.

    Those are not "10 millimeter bolts" or "12 millimeter bolts". The heads might measure about 10mm or 12mm, but that is not the size of the bolts. Bolts are correctly measured according to the shank of the bolt, not the head. Why? Partly because there are many different bolts with the same diameter and thread pitch with different sizes and types of heads. By mislabeling things and calling things wrong names you are teaching wrong ideas and bad habits to many people who do not know any better. It is better to use correct terminology and help to reduce the overall level of unnecessary confusion, rather than contributing to the massive mess of confusion that presently exists in the world.
