    At last someone who actually asked for an opinion of the background music.👍👍 Personally I cannot stand background music😉. I would much rather see the subject matter and listen to the presentation. If it was music I wanted then I would just play a music video or an audio File. Thanks for asking and great presentation. 👍👍👍

    I bought this soldering station (well, the previous jbc cd_2bqE), along with both types of desoldering stations (pump and tweezers versions) and it has been a pleasure to use. Really quick tip change, heats up very fast, lots of tip options, comfort is quite good. BUT, two and a half year after the purchase it stopped functioning properly and is now sending power to the tip intermittently whilst making some weird gargle sound. For a device that costs 450€ it is quite disappointing, certainly even more so since the warranty ended a handful of months ago. Just... beware, you might have to reinvest in a couple or so years if u use it often. Although is suspect a colleague of mine to have pushed it to the max temp on the biggest tip and heating a whole pcb with it to desolder a 60 pin connector in one go... might have been excessive.... With that said, i have had Weller top of the line failing way sooner than this because of overheating the cartridge and rendering the pencil useless (costs half the price of the whole station unit).

    I think in the past videos you did a great job with the music portions. Add a cinematic effect to your videos. In scenes where you are doing work, like when hammering the hot steel, back around music is good. Scenes where you are showing, and talking no music is need. Keep up the good work I like your videos.

    I know I’m a bit late to the party here, but, You are probably the first person that I’ve ever seen have the common decency to ask what their viewers preferred as far as background noise goes. And with that, you’ve gained a loyal subscriber. And for my opinion, I came to the video to listen to you talk about the two irons, not really to listen to music. So In my opinion, this was an excellent comparison video. Perfectly executed!

But JBC has so many different models and I can’t tell which one would be best for my desired use-case which would be to work on computer motherboards and add-in cards including desoldering and surface mount chips. Which one would you recommend for that, and why? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Wow, that phat chisel tip you are showing at 8:18 is probably what is causing global climate change... The only suitable background audio is the sound of sobbing TS80/100 fanboys that just watched this Rolls Royce iron go at it. One rarely comes across this product on the second hand market, I guess once you got one you won't go back. The 'tip changer' tray just shows how well designed this thing is. The cable looks a bit flimsy but is seemingly up to the job. It even has a AUX output for a fume extractor !! Thanks for the review, I'll go change into a clean pair of undies now.....

    I basically got a cheap Chinese version of that for $40. Ceramic element and goes from 200-450C in a minute or so. Not sure about wattage but prob 150 if you're trying to heat up a heatsink or something major. Only thing it's missing is a good vacuum desoldering pump, but for $40 instead of $250+ I guess I can live without that.

  • @SianaGearz

    @SianaGearz

    3 жыл бұрын

    Any keywords on that? Because that would be really interesting, haven't seen one of those yet. I mean $40 is a T12 price, and T12 is damn punchy because of cartridge construction and PID, but it's only about 70W on a good day, it's not making competition to JBC any time soon. TS80 is actually based on T12, nearly identical construction, just shorter cartridge to make room for electronics and flanged to compensate for stability. It has the same exact performance.

  • @fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718

    @fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718

    @@SianaGearz It's a modded/RMStator-rebranded 939D similar to a Yihua 939D you'd find on Aliexpress. I got mine a few years ago and the price has went up a bit since then ($54). They basically took the vanilla Yihua model and put higher powered parts in it with a slightly bigger iron. At least that's what I'm assuming since after 4 years it still works like day 1 other than slightly worn tips. Also guessing it's because I seldom need ~150W and running it at that level for too long will probably kill it, being cheap and all.

  • @SianaGearz

    @SianaGearz

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 I think you got a T12. Does the cartridge look like a T12? The spec seems to be 70W on RMStator. "Running at more than about 150W would kill it" is not a consideration because it shouldn't be technically possible, the T12 cartridges are intended to run at 24V, that should be the output voltage of the power supply in the soldering station, and the resistance of the heater in the cartridge is such, that the full duty cycle power at 24V is 70W. And i had seen all the bits on Chinese markets that would go into your station if it is a T12, both the handle and the analogue-style controller. The 936 usually have the power of seems like 36W, though are often quoted 40 or 50 or something. There seems to be a distinct 75W variant too. Hakko 936 original used to be 60W. More crucially the tip is air gapped from the heater integrated into the handle, with pretty bad heat transfer; and to add to that, there ample area and structure to lose heat. The thermal connection is better in Hakko original parts, but cheapy Chinese things don't have nearly the manufacturing precision to match that. So yeah T12 performs so much better than a normal 936. But it's not even close to JBC, and i don't think it would be even possible on material and manufacturing cost to match JBC at $40.

  • @fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718

    @fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@SianaGearz I haven't actually took it apart to have a look-see, but maybe it simply uses higher than 24v and reduced life is an accepted drawback (a common money saver, Class D audio amp board rated at 300W with 50V to 1-up competition at same price, but overheats and dies in months at 50V, when 45V/250 watts is more long-term reliable)? I had a similar previous one (different rebranding) with similar stated specs die in a few minutes when I turned to up to 400C (though it went to 450C) for some chassis desoldering. Or the paper specs are simply "overclocked" deceptions that weren't designed to actually be ran at that in the long term, sellers can pretty much get away with anything as long as most of them last until warranty or the return window expires.

    Background music never adds anything to an informational video. If it's bad, the video becomes unwatchable. If it's good, it detracts attention from the topic. Many KZreadrs think it makes their content more interesting and polished based on what they see on TV. Unbeknownst to them, studio quality videos use highly skilled professionals for music and sound who the art and science along with trade secrets to make it work effectively in a presentation.

    Late to the party but no music as it's an unnecessary distraction or a bit like the guy that cranks up his favorite song at traffic lights...cringe Btw excellent review, the jbc is awesome! but I'm not convinced that for occasional use it's three times (price wise) better than my present hakko fx888d...the little toy lookalike has been extremely competent and reliable for a long time

    Its good without the music but you shouldn't stop talking unless you want to show how something is loud/quiet. When you were presenting the station there were many pauses. Either describe some more functions or trim the video down.
