Jay is the Goat. The "real" Goat is controversial. There are many successful emcees. Successful in other ways, perhaps. Jay is wealthy which doesn't necessarily makes him the "real" goat. Mind you, rappers did this free of charge once upon time.

Steven Shewmake that just makes him the most popular. Number one albums don’t mean much. Eminem is a good example he is skilled but just popular. A lot of white kids bought his shit same wit Jay. Where I’m from nobody was bumping Eminem in the hood. So number one albums don’t say how great you are just popular. Peace.

@john cangley cant man....ur gonna have 2 number 1s....gotta pick one....illmatic is vastly superior...life after death has better beats but if ur about content and lyricism illmatic..... And this comment was 2 months ago....id def try to add puns capital punishment in there somehow.... Heres why....out of 19 songs i can easily list 11 songs that are 9/10-10/10 so thats almost 3/4ths of the album thats straight bangers...its also another display of incredible elite lyricism....i wish i could put mobb deeps the infamous there to.... but its prolly #7on my list....another incredible album... Whats ur top 5

He aint even top 5. Why he the Goat? Cause you just watched a documentary about his best album, so you in your feelings? Lol Jay dope , dont get me wrong. This his best album. Black Album 2nd. 3rd and 4th would be Dynasty mixtape and HardKnock Life and times 2. Besides that tho, everything else hes made is overhyped. So if hes the Goat, you got him over who? Pac? Biggie? Rakim? Kane? Pun? Big L? Andre3k? KRS1? Without KRS1 there wouldnt be a JayZ. He better than Nas? Eminem? RZA? I already know what you gonna say , "blah blah blah Money, Success, album sales , blah blah." Tekashi 6'9 broke some views record today , has a ton of #1s. Eminem MMLP is the top selling album of all time, plus Em got the same longevity as Jay so you cant use that either. Jay aint the only billionaire , Ye is too, 50 on his way. Jay the Goat , whats he the Goat at exactly?? Im not buying it.

This was when Jay used to inspire me in my early thirties with his lyrics to work diligently on my civilian job (with a dope boy mind) to push through negative emotions like Tupac inspired me in my twenties to be bold and fearless even though my money and self esteem was low. I'm 50 now and I enjoy a good material life (nice home, nice cars, nice income, nice wife) due to keeping God first ultimately but living off of the inspiration of a few of His creatures like Tupac and Hov!

I was so mesmerized by the "Reasonable Doubt" Project from the first listen, that I called home from the prison and told my nephew to book Jay Z for concerts in Miami and the Bahamas. I just wanted to establish contact with the mindset behind the project. He chose to book Sizzla and Luciano, Reggae stars on the rise at the time. BLACK WOMAN AND CHILD and THE MESSENGER were successful albums so I couldn't be mad at the cultural impact. He's still disappointed that he didn't embrace the opportunity to connect with Jay on the ground floor of his successful career.
