Honestly I don’t think Reasonable Doubt was his best album. When it first came out it was mildly received. It had a few songs that resonated. I think that he, through sheer will, pushed the idea that this was his best album and because his other albums were received so much better he pushed it and everybody who was involved with it pushed the same idea agenda that it was his best album. It’s a good album but not his best. It may have been his most honest album but he was still developing as an artist. He still hadn’t peaked. By the time he got to Hard Knock Life he was fully ready. And this progression was a good one. He didn’t just blow up immediately and that slow steam helped his career.
