@@lukamg7368 they didn't reject him. Not in the way you're thinking. They felt he was asking for too much -> he just didn't want a slave deal. Look how far he's come, now he's giving slave deals and f'ing up careers.

Tbh, MBDTF is amazing but an overrated album. Def not a top 5 album of all-time, it's top 30 at best IMO. But in regards to Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt, you can argue that these two are def top 2 albums of all-time.

Jonathan SCCP mbdtf isn't even kanyes best album in my opinion. it's a great album but I think it's impact was what made it even better, it proved Kanye hadn't fallen off after 808s when everyone doubted him. I think it's safe to say college dropout belongs in the top 3-5 of all time
The fact that this was his first album that was released independently and had this many sample, should tell you Jay was really getting money in the streets. Samples are not cheap.
Reasonable Doubt is such a great album.
I never ever hit the skip button when playing This album! Top to bottom classics, his best work in my opinion

Blueprint is a 5 mic, but Reasonable Doubt is on another level. The beats, the rhymes, the stories, the persona, the pain, it just didn't get any better for him. When he said "Telling my family I'll be back soon, that was December", I felt a hole in my chest, that was real.

I attended one of Mos Def’s concerts at USC early 2,000’s (forgot the exact year...Charlie Tuna opened) Mos and his DJ were the first I personally saw and heard play the current hip hop and it’s original classic samples used. Though I’ve been to tons of shows and several of Mos Shows that was the such a dope segment in the show. This video series is an extension of that concept.
