I mean, it did change his life. In a lot of ways, Jamie was just like Kanye at that point. Jamie was trying to break into the music industry too, but no one really wanted to back him seriously. They wanted him to just stick to acting. The song he did with Kanye showed him how to switch up his style and eventually pave the way for his music career.

Kanye divides rap history in two eras - before and after Kanye debut. On 10th February 2004 he changed this genre forever. He paved a way for Drake, Migos and other singers-rappers. Hip-hop is not associated only with gangsters and drug dealers any more thanks to him.

The lyrical content on "The College Droupout" is easily the greatest lyrically of all Kanye's album. It was all truth, fire, and high level of genius. It wasn't about "Bitches, drugs, and guns", it was real.

One of my favorite joints! the original beat was actually produced by Evidence (of Dilated Peoples) for Jay z (the mr Rockefeller sample) but Kanye said “nah I’m the new Rockefeller” and kept it for himself.
There is no era of Kanye that I really hate, even ones like Yeezus or TLOP (though The Life of Pablo continues to grow on me) though not my favorites. Bring something SOOOO interesting even if it doesn't quite work for me. The college dropout story always inspires me and I can't wait for you to tackle Late Registration. These videos on Ye are always a treat.

Coming here after Ye’s Netflix documentary. Kanye really put everything into his first album, it was years in the the making. It must have been excruciating for him to be knocking on doors and get rejected, especially after his car accident. He made/funded the MV of Through The Wire himself with his friends with makeshift equipments. It’s just mind blowing!
