Dear Timothy, I'm so happy that you were able to make it back home from Iraq. You and I know that many of our men and women did not have the opportunity to make it back home to see their loved ones. I am so happy that you were spared. From one veteran to another, thank you so very much for your service. And may God bless you the rest of your days. I am also in tears writing this to you, because I understand what you've gone through. Once again, God bless you and may you forever be held in God's highest esteem. 👍🙏

Nope, I felt the same way about the video. To be frank,it helped remove some of the distaste of the purely Political attempt to public lynch Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl before his court-martial, even before he had returned to the US. This also left me in tears as an American, but for a very different reason. We must never forget these are our fellow Citizens we send to war, & as they are when they come home.

I'm a huge car guy / motor head and Mr. Leno I love you for what you have done here. yes, veterans do feel forgotten about when their service comes to an end or has been ended from being badly hurt in duty. it's not about benefits or money or car gifts, but a simple gesture of gratitude and acknowledgment of knowing a veteran has done something that most ppl can't do or just won't do when asked by their country to do so. thanks for this video

That's the key word, you have never SEEN them do it! Yes, it was nice what Jay did, but did he really need to have 500 cameras in the guys face all the time, and to post it on his show? Or he could've just done a good deed for the guy, without making the guy feel uncomfortable having 500 cameras in his face! I love Jay, and this was a great deed, but did he really need to go all out with the whole production thing?

Absolutely awesome Jay and Dodge! A truly great thing! My upstairs neighbor is a Marine Veteran who has been waiting 6+ months for surgery on his arm. Since Dec. Of 2014 his bone has been broken and poking against his skin. The armed services would do nothing. He was forced to wait for social security disability to become active. Just so he can see a Dr. to set a date for surgery. He was finally approved 8/1/15. All that time with no pain medicine either. For the Marines to say that no one is left behind. My neighbor is left behind and forgotten. It's nice to see that some of us ( Jay & Dodge) care. Many say to never forget our fallen hero's. I say it's time to stop forgetting our failing hero's!!

As a soldier myself jay is right. We feel alone and not appreciated. Most Americans don't even know we are at war still. They are all concerned about people who only help themselves and don't even matter in this country. I don't understand how people could be so obsessed with famous people but the real heroes that fight for your right to even have an opinion you say they are crazy from ptsd, don't offer jobs and give the most broken health care system known to man. You glorify athletes that would never die for you but won't invite a soldier into your home that gave up being with his family to keep yours safe. This ignorant kid saying these guys are murders has no idea what the hell he is talking about. He probably still lives with his mom and gets an allowance. All we ask is to be thanked for what we do it some recognition. Maybe even switch the pay between the heroes and football players for a month and see how many players quit football. War is not a game where anyone wins. You do you best to Protect life and fight for your country. I think the lights in the new hellcat are poserish because those are signature BMW halo lights. Can't blame them though for wanting the best. Other than that it's a great car. Don't feel embarrassed for thanking someone in the military for their service. We aren't psycho killers. We sign up to protect our country from evil like 911. If you think that was an inside job then you must have never severed and don't know what the hell you are talking about. Don't comment on something you know nothing about and get all your answers from Google or Wikipedia.

I'm Australian, but all of what you said applies here too. We may not agree with the wars you're involved in, but it's not like soldiers can say "screw that, I'm sitting this one out." It's politicians that send a country's military into battle, and most of us appreciate you choosing to serve. What happened to Vietnam vets when they came home should never be repeated. Some of you blokes come home very broken, and it's our duty as a society to look after you if you do. Although it would seem that even today, many soldiers seem to have to fend for themselves once invalided by war. Your idea of switching the pay of footballers and soldiers has some merit. Would be nice if your average trooper could pay for his house in a year, buy a new car, and put a decent nest egg away. What they pay people for kicking and/or throwing a piece of leather around is obscene. All these ignorant wankers that keep saying "soldiers are indiscriminate killing machines" need a good hard reality check. I've never served in the military, but have a few friends that have, and they all have a good moral compass. If these morons want to get angry at someone, try bugging Congress

  • @Samsgarden

Mechknight73 Actually, Vietnam should never have happened. To say soldiers aren't culpable (aside from those conscripted) is recklessly irresponsible. Soldiers need to educate themselves before doing their leaders' bidding and killing foreigners. It's the bare minimum one should expect. I tell you what. The military relies on their ignorance, blind patriotism and inability to get a job. Is that what we're applauding here?

The best feeling I've ever had was buying my dream car and giving my car before that to a veteran in need via Texas Veterans Charity - I had finally saved the money to buy my car after years and I knew I had to give something back to those who allow me to stay here and work to earn money in a free country. Bless your heart, Mr. Leno! Honoring out service men and women is not totally uncommon, but this gesture, both from you and Chrysler, sets the bar appreciably higher. When I returned from Vietnam in the late 60's we were met at the airport by a fairly large group of "protesters", and the welcome-home was a tad different. Time heals, and gestures like yours, Tim Kuniskis' and Chrysler's bring's a tear to my eye. God bless you and all who think similarly!

What a great video and a reminder to Americans about what is important out in the world; the low paid service men and women of our armed forces. What is more American then two guys talking in front of a back road bbq and just enjoying the many things veterans have given us. JAY LENO........MAN FOR THE COMMON MAN!

Awesome stuff! It's good to honor the troops, at the end of the day they keep us safe. As a dutchman I'll always be grateful for the allied soldiers who gave their life during WW2 for my future. To the people who say it's a commercial, well of course it is but does that make it less nice for that soldier that sacrificed so much? No, I bet he isn't 1% less happy because of it and he deserves a nice car like that!

Nicolas Bocchino Have you thought that they sign-up for it? Like this guy, he "wanted to be an Army man", what did he expect? I understand it's a hard thing to do, but it's like a national fucking sport to honor veterans. Jay was talking like it's a rare thing, sure we don't give them all cars, though I'm sure there is some wing-nut in congress with a draft bill. "Screw Headstart, private Johnson needs a Hemi!", those kids can just go in the army instead of going to College.

David G Usually it does. Being a hero means not being with your family for most of the year, which most military members have to go through at some point. It means joining the military to defend your country with the best of intentions. Anyone who joins the military with good intentions is a hero in my book. I would love to see someone like you trade places with someone in the military and see how you do. You'll have a lot more respect for them and understand why people consider them hero's.

gingerkids b Sorry no, most people in the military don't join because they want too, nowadays since it's not mandatory to join people go for the paycheck, the free tuition & they usually have no direction in life. I've seen it first hand. All the people in my highschool that joined went because one of those reasons. Not saying some of them want to serve, but that's just not the case nowadays. The true heros were the ones who had to go once they turned 18 back in the day. I respect them a lot more.

I have a lot of respect for the people that are fighting for my (and everyone's) freedom. It's just... I can't help feeling the war shouldn't have been fought at all. Iraq is a mess, Syria is a mess, Afghanistan isn't even what people still talk about. It's been a messed up decision, one that costed many people their lives, and others the life that they've lived up to that point. Nothing it the same when you return home.

Tears dripping. Just a grandmother take really cares for our military. My father and two brothers served. W W1, WW2, and Korean War. Navy and Army. When they came home there wasn't anyone standing in line saying thank you, nor would they expect it after what they saw in those wars. They were the lucky ones to come home . Dad never mention the war ever. He saw way to much. Also,my brothers never talked about the wars they were in either. My oldest brother's ship was hit and he landed in the water 💦. He was saved by another sailor. My brother couldn't swim. He was 17 when he volunteer and dad had to sign for him. WW 2 . He quit school to go. The school broad gave him his high school diploma when was in his 70's only after his daughter requested it. They're all gone now but this old granny wants to say thank you 😊 to all that served. They are all REAL MEN. As for you Jay, your the real DEAL. Granny Fan for a long long long time.

Stay at home! Non intervention is what the Founding Fathers told you! ----------------------------------------------------------- “America goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.... She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom.” (John Quincy Adams, 1821.) “It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world...” (George Washington, Farewell Address) “I am for free commerce with all nations, political connection with none, and little or no diplomatic establishment. And I am not for linking ourselves by new treaties with the quarrels of Europe, entering that field of slaughter to preserve their balance, or joining in the confederacy of Kings to war against the principles of liberty.” (Thomas Jefferson, to Elbridge Gerry ME 10:77, 1799.) “I have ever deemed it fundamental for the United States never to take active part in the quarrels of Europe. Their political interests are entirely distinct from ours. Their mutual jealousies, their balance of power, their complicated alliances, their forms and principles of government, are all foreign to us. They are nations of eternal war. All their energies are expended in the destruction of the labor, property and lives of their people.” (Thomas Jefferson, to James Monroe ME: 15:436, 1823.) “I sincerely join... in abjuring all political connection with every foreign power; and though I cordially wish well to the progress of liberty in all nations, and would forever give it the weight of our countenance, yet they are not to be touched without contamination from their other bad principles. Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto.” (Thomas Jefferson, to Thomas Lomax ME 10:124. 1799.)
