Jay is so quick and clever. He cracked me up with the joke about the tailpipe hooked up to the back seat.

What a beautiful Automobile. Thank you Jay for doing all that you do to educate us dreamers and aficionados, and for preserving all different types of vehicles. You are quite the Encyclopedia! I also hope that your wife is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.

To bad that car won't be around in 100yrs. The electronics in it will all be busted with no one able to fix it. Also not able to look at the code because of proprietary rights.

Call me a Philistine if you wish, I think it is hideous. I wonder how hard it is to insure? Solid magnesium isn't as easy to ignite as it is when powdered or very thin ribbons - BUT, when it does ignite it burns at over 5,000F and is very hard to put out.

Years ago now &, only briefly, I owned TWO Renault Dauphine’s.. if I remember, they were either both from 1959 or, one was ‘58 & one was ‘59. Very interesting little cars those were! Still water cooled 4 banger, rear mounted, facing forwards to a radiator mounted directly behind rear seat cushion.. had cool louver air intakes built into their itty-bitty rear doors, that’d direct outside air, behind said cushion &, into front of radiator. One of them cars had push-button gear selection buttons on dash, still having a stick shifter. Can’t recall correct spelling but its clutch system was called a “Furlic” clutch, which, when the “D”-rive dash button was selected, incorporated a type of veritable resistor mechanism , connected too its carburetor linkage &, that “module” also had the Speedo cable run thru it.. effectively allowing the driver to “float” the gears, for when each most optimal gear selection should be made, an electromagnetic clutch would disengage, allowing next gear to fall in… the other car was just a standard manual clutch peddle type. I got those two cars back when I was about oh, 15 & well, was already by then, near 6’ tall! Stopped at 6’4”… was never really able to fit in those cars, lol.

Jay looks quite feeble and frail in this video. Even his voice sounds debilitated. Either he's aging quickly, or something else health-wise is going on with him. Hope he's doing ok.

I liked his commentary on the pinstriped guy drinking scotch. I usually have pretty steady hands. But often when I go to solder something, it’s either under stressful or rushed conditions, or it’s just after a long day of work. As a sound engineer, I’m often pushed hard with little notice to get something done before a deadline that cannot be changed. To ask some big time rock star to wait is the same as asking to be fired. Somehow, while under the gun, is when I do my best work as a live sound guy. But after hours, when I’m casually taking the time to solder a mic or mic cable or some circuit board component in place, my hands might not be quite steady enough to do it right. So, a couple of pulls on the Jameson, a bit of the THC therapy, and I’m right as rain, and leave a nice clean solder connection which I’ll most likely never need to touch again. So that’s why the pin stripper takes a swig, I’m sure. You can’t have a shaky hand while drawing a perfect and narrow strip down the flank of a 20’ long car that costs $100,000-$1,000,000. A mild sedative does the trick.

RR Parent company, BMW realised a Rolls Royce is not a Rolls Royce if it’s not Made in England. RR heritage craftsmanship can not be replicated anywhere else. But a lot people don’t realise RR is made up of two separate companies. One is owned by BMW in Germany while the other is a British company that is world renowned for manufacturing nuclear reactors for British built nuclear submarines or Jet engines for most of the worlds commercialised airlines or Small Modular Reactors that can be built on land anywhere in the world and power up to a million homes.

Cars are a bad investment. Truth be told Jay could never get the money back he spent on those cars. Storage and maintenance alone is expensive.
