February 14, 2004 - Aiming for his third consecutive NBA Slam Dunk title, Golden State Warriors high flyer Jason Richardson closed out the first round of the 2004 contest with the NBA's first ever off-the-backboard, between-the-legs dunk. Richardson's flush was the contest's high water mark following a final round flop in which both Richardson and Fred Jones missed their finals dunks, leading Jones to snap Richardson's slam dunk championship streak on a technicality.

Jason Richardson could walk on a cloud. Dude was catching bodies all the time. His in game dunks are just as nasty.

This was a horrible dunk contest. I remember they didn't even announce who was in it until 3 days before the contest. Yeah we had this dunk, but then the finals had the leaning Fred Jones dunk, JRich needing 13 tries and giving up, the ball slipping out of Jones' hands so it was a layup and JRich missing his last dunk. So Fred Jones technically won with a layup

Because he missed both his dunks in the final round. The 360 elbow off the lob and the 360 btl off the lob
