Mad respect to James Marsden for doing a great job with so little to work with. Cyclops is such a pivotal character in the comics and deserved to be handled with way more respect.

Exactly, I keep wondering why is it so hard for them to get the characters right. When the homework is right there for them to look at it & take it to the big screen. Cyclops is that kind of character you have to put justice on, they made Cap a great leader for the Avengers on the big screen but couldn’t do that for Scott ( Cyclops) ☝️😤

Yup.. X97 managed to make Cyclops a badass, and they only did it in one episode… Crazy..

I love how he answered that question. So respectful and fond of being apart of the movies too. Hope he gets to be Cyclops again and really bring it cause we know he can.

Nice to hear that! He’s definitely one of my favourites as well. I overlooked him back in the day, but when he stepped up after House of M, he became the most important mutant on earth. Would love to see Cyclops as the main character in a new X-Men movie 👌

Even after 24 years, he still will be the best cast for Cyclops

From what I heard the main reason for that was because during the time of X-Men last stand they were also shooting Superman returns in which James Marsden dedicated himself to the role in Superman more than he did X-Men that's why his part in X-Men was so small.

I remember watching that movie in theaters and I nearly almost screamed. I hated how they killed him off when he was a very important character along with Jean in the Phoenix Saga storyline. After X3 and X-Men Origins, I wanted the film rights to go back to Marvel Studios. Now, here we are. The Fantastic Four and X-Men are back home with Marvel.

Imagine they just show how op his optic blast really is against enemies that are mostly melee. We can even have wade loose limbs over the blast so it show how strong it actually is

He is a great Cyclops, no matter how they wrote/directed him. Excellent casting, I would LOVE to see him as a live XTAS Cyc.

He was the perfect choice for Cyclops.

If so hopefully he fights more like he did in the animated series. Having him do moves like using his optic blasts to propel himself around a room faster is pretty cool. Having a live action Cyclops not really stand up for himself when pushed around, and battles consist of him just standing somewhere and having a villain like Sabertooth just run towards him and he just fires a shot and blasts him far back. Such an insult to how Sabertooth and Cyclops were handled.

If he's doing it? Fuck yea I'd watch it!

The films were made by casual Wolverine fans. Cyclops was like Optimus Prime or Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible) even. He was very intelligent, strong leadership capabilities, and he was always leading from the Front. I hate that they took his role and made him a background character.

In the new timeline, Cyclops IS the younger brother of Havok.. I think they wanted to include Cyclops in the First Class, because why not right..? He’s one of the first students of Xavier.. But since the movie is set in the 60’s, it makes no sense to include Cyclops as he wasn’t born yet.. So they browse the Summers family roster, and saw that Havok hasn’t been introduced in any live action film.. So they put Havok in the movie, but making him as an older brother of Cyclops..

He did well in his Cycloos role. Fox just failed the character.

I always felt like they did Cyclops dirty in the Orginal X-Men movies. He was always playing background or guy who gets fed to the main villain of the movie. But Cyclops as a character is more protagonist than side character imo.

As a kid I always had cyclops as my fav. At school we’d play X-men. Everyone fought over who’s gonna be Wolverine and I just wanted to be the leader. I enjoyed James portrayal a lot. He didn’t get the screen time he deserved.

Would like to see him have a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine!

James Marsden and his Cyclops portrayal weren’t bad, they were just horribly written If the MCU is really gonna do a whole new X-Men movie, let’s pray that James get to reenact the character with all the awesomeness that X-Men 97 has shown for the character so far

It became that other characters had to suffer. Though Xavier and Magneto still became popular though. Cyclops on the other hand only gets respect from people that watch x men evolution or read the comics.

He’d probably sign a letter saying Magneto was innocent

The hardest part about doing an X-men movie is that by it’s nature you have at least 6 main characters and it’s really tough to give each character proper Justice without it feeling overstuffed or being 3 and a half hours. That being said it always blew me away how little Cyclops was in the movie considering how enormous of a character he is in the comics. Sort of always saw him as the quintessential X-man, he was a member of almost every incarnation of the team.

I never realized how little he had to work with in those movies until recently, yet still was very memorable

He was a great Cyclops. He was so nerfed and got the Hawkeye treatment in X2

At the time most people were raving about these films but I knew they weren't right. They weren't X-Men. They were some Hollywood watered down thing with Wolverine at the center, which is the most Hollywood thing to do when there's a popular character. I'm glad the world seems to be coming around and going "Ya know? That actually really didn't feel like X-Men". No it did not.

The writers screwed him a bit in those movies. He didn’t have enough lines, as the team leader. He didn’t lead them into enough battles. Seeing Cyclops mow down Sentinels would’ve been sweet.

Honestly. He was definitely a GOAT casting. I don't think we all really understood just how insanely popular Hugh Jackman was going to be at that time. But once he took off as Wolverine, they just rode that popularity and sadly Cyclops just got sidelined more and more til he died a pretty lame death. I'd love a solo Cyclops movie, if that's even possible. I dunno much about the comics, so I dunno if he does much stuff solo.

I would pay the full price of admission, just to hear James Marsden say “To me, my X-men!”

James is a great Cyclops. He’s my favorite actor and Scott Summers is my favorite X-Man. X-Men 97 has done. A great job showing how excellent Cyclops can be just like he is in the comic lore.😎❤️💙

Him defending Nickelodeon's Brian Peck during the whole scandal behind-the-scenes of most Dan Schneider's shows got to me. If he owes up that what James said to protect Mr. Peck wasn't a good move, and the apology is sincere and honest, I wouldn't mind coming back as Cyclops even for a Disney/MCU cameo.
