Exactly! I really liked the cast (I still do though). James Marden as Cyclops and Halle Berry as Storm was superb. It's a shame that they didn't do these characters justice.

She still had some great scenes in the first movie. It’s amazing she even got to do that much. This was actually my introduction to Storm and I would later see the animated series Saturday mornings on ABC Family.

Jacob i dont think he is an awful actor its just the way the directors have put the film together dosent make him look them best and plus if he wasnt a great actory he wouldnt of booked so many roles

The casting for the first generation of X-Men was great but just disappointing for how they basically only gave Wolverine and Xavier time to shine.

My first thought looking back at this is 'How young does Jimmy Marsden look? Cyclops was a baby!' Secondly, they probably couldn't breathe because it was cold that night when the film was not supposed to be particularly in winter, so you don't want to see the condensation of breath in cold air.

That's actually what he normally must go by. In the first episode of The Nanny, he plays a waiter. He is credited as Jimmy Marsden. I guess his agent or someone told him to go by James to be taken more seriously or something.

I like a man who can hop over a short wall.

The lifts in cyclopes boots are wild - you see just how much they had in there, when he has his leg on the wall at 1:18. I only recently learned that James Marsden is just under 5'10, and that there where producers involved who were against casting a smaller guy for Cyclops (who is 6'2 in the comics) and a really tall guy to play Wolverine (who is 5'3 in the comics). The problem was that James Marsden and Hugh Jackman were favorites amongst the crew and studio, and were basically perfect in their screen tests as the characters..... they basically looked just like their comic counter parts in every way except their massive height differences. So the studio fought for them. Even back when this was filmed, there were people upset that they reversed the heights on the two leads.... so the answer was to shoot cyclops in most scenes from the knees up (easy enough given his eyes are the focus), and to give him the worlds thickest boots, lol. Something James has since spoken about being a detrimental thing for his ability to act in any action scenes. Apparently he wore inserts and special boots in all three of the original films that gave him a extra 4 inches (bringing him closer to the 6'4 Hugh Jackman) - and for the later films, they actually dug holes for Jackman to stand in, so his cast-mates would appear taller!

imagine if fox made the avengers they all wore black suits.

The four core super Avengers have identities that demand they wear something else. Iron Man obviously has armor. Captain America is red white and blue, it's in the name. Thor is a Viking, duh. And Hulk CAN'T wear anything but magical boxers. Guess what Natasha and Clint wore? BLACK LEATHER FUCKING SUITS haha. (Ooh but Clint's was sleeveless and Natasha's was Sexy. Okay buddy.)

Leather was IN during the early 2000's aesthetic. Lots of movies had them like the Matrix Reloaded, The Dark Knight, etc).

It would seem Famke Janssen adjusted quite quickly to wearing tight leather.

Probably explains the 2 piece uniforms in the sequels

I always appreciated the color trim based on their originals

Halle looked so good as Storm with that long hair. I wish the long hair was consistent though. Her X-Men 2 hairstyle was closest to the Jim Lee/90s cartoon though.
