The viewers had hardly anything do with with Grant Gustin’s performance. The show’s writing became exasperatingly worse after season 3 or 4, which led to the show’s downfall in interest.

The reason why Grant is rated is because, he was way too good as a "CW flash" actor as you say, in fact ezra as a Cw flash would fit right in not the other way round as it was done, Grant also proved that there was more to him than been one dimensional, i could say Arrow guy, Stephen Amell is a one dimensional actor and yh he killed it as arrow and will kill it in any other role that would allow him do the whole arrow routine and nothing more, but grant is the whole 9 yards, and proved that by his multiple roles in flash. evil flash, broken, happy, grief, hopeful , hopeless, memory loss , ordinary barry, emotionless flash... dude killed it over and over and over. and was super convincing everytime..in honestly he was TOO GOOD FOR CW, even when the writing failed grant didn`t, so this is to deny him a chance at a better script and budget to work with its a sure fire way for DC to have some ready fans and make good money given a good script

It's speculation, you never know what james gunn has in mind, especially if he likes him as an actor, again what chris said about maybe he should play reverse flash sounds like an interesting take, but again who knows its just fun speculation. And i agree with your comment about the flash cw show because it had garbage moments, but that was the writing's fault, Grant is still a pretty good actor.

I don't get it what does having bad seasons make Grant ineligible to play the Flash on the big screen? Grant didn't run the show he played the Flash. He was just an actor. He had no creative control. I stopped watching the Flash because I didn't like the direction the creators were taking it. That doesn't mean I stopped loving Grant as the Flash. He was great and I would love to see him continue playing the character in the DCU!

People didn't watch The Flash: The Movie either. People forget Alan Ritchson was Aquaman on Smallville and years later people are thinking that he could play Batman. Grant Gustin would have to do some other projects to get more eyes on him. CW has lower budget, long seasons with bad filler, its not all himself. Grant could play an awesome Kyle for GL

I figured you were a movie expert. Grant Gustin being a CW Flash has nothing to do with him earning himself a spot on the big screen. The first season alone, including the last episode of season 1 was movie worthy acting. Grants take on the flash was way better than Ezra. Your critique on not many people were watching the Flashs later season is irrelevant because a trilogy movie along with some cameo crossover films would be less work for movie writers and more digestible than 22 episodes per season that went on for 9 years. Grant gave us the best interpretation of the Flash. Grant Gustin is to the Flash what Michael Keaton is to Batman.

Just thought of something. There is some indication that Superman Legacy might not be a hard origin story and mostly takes place when Superman and other characters are already well established. So it got me thinking, what if the DCU will incorporate past DC adaptation to it's continuity, like more as a revival of that timeline

It has been stated many times that Superman won't be an origin movie. It will however be a Superman who hasn't been Superman for that long. I think Clark Kent has been working at the Daily Planet for about a year according to what James Gunn has stated.

Grant Gustin is a phenomenal actor.. but as The Flash again I think Gustin been exhausted as being The Flash again.. I think Grant Gustin playing in Gunn's DCU it might be new for Gustin.. maybe a villian role or unexpected DC character suits for Gustin.. my pick Grant Gustin suit for Gunn's DCU - Nightwing - Two Face - Elongated Man or anything else from DC that never been seen on the cinema

I'm really not a fan of this snotty attitude about TV actors, as if they have some spell on them that means no matter what project they're in, they have to act the same way. Just because the CW show had a certain vibe, that doesn't mean Grant Gustin would "force" a DCU Flash movie to have that same vibe. The whole point of different directors is that they can make movies with different vibes. We're not "skipping over" or ignoring the inconvenient truth that CW Flash had declining ratings. We're simply questioning its relevance to the quality of a DCU project. Obviously, it's relevant to the conversation of how eager or not Hollywood would be to use Grant again - but ratings for a different project have no bearing whatsoever on what the quality of a new project will be. The quality of any new project will always depend on who's making it and what decisions they make. To be clear, I'm not saying Gustin should definitively be the new Flash or that he'll be "perfect." I'm just tired of this ridiculous Hollywood prejudice and flawed logic.

The Question was my first thought, for some reason. Reverse Flash seems almost too obvious. I think he might have a Riddler in him. There are also lots of characters who aren't superheroes or villains but could still be important depending on the story, like a Steve Trevor or Emil Hamilton type role. I don't think the DCU necessarily needs a Barry Allen. There are plenty of speedsters to choose from. The DCAU used Wally West (played by Michael Rosenbaum) and that worked out just fine.

As much as i would love Grant as the Flash..There is so much to be considered bringing him in. Do they ignore everything from the CW show? His wife, kids, friends..His villains? Oh do they make all that cannon and bring it over..Which would be basically working off someone's in a lot of ways inferior work. Just seems like a headache. However Batman Beyond..Heck yeah..I'm gonna hold on to that dream i don't care what John thinks..If we can have 2 Joker movies, a Peacemaker and a Penguin show then dammit I want Batman Beyond in some live action capacity!

Question could be cool. I like the idea of Kyle Rayner or another lantern also. I kinda think it'd be cool to see him as a non-masked but important character. Similar to how the character of Joe West was very important in the Flash show.

I'd argue viewership wasn't down because of Grant. The show, overall, just became tired and struggled to fill the void left by it's departing original cast. To it's credit, it constantly punched above it's production/budget weight, but often with mixed results in later seasons. The original cast was excellent, but Grant has been consistently terrific in the role, often the only thing making mediocre episodes tolerable. His portrayal of Barry is pretty much my baseline for the character at this point. At least for the moment. Ezra Miller and his version certainly isn't a threat to his crown. :P That said, I would be surprised -- pleasantly so -- if they ever did decide to upgrade him to theatrical status. I think he's earned it and is more than capable of it. BUT -- and this is a big BUT -- that would also come with a lot of messy baggage. Is the show canon, for example, or would he just play another version of Barry from scratch? There's implications for casting him in Gunn's new DC world, none of which is completely satisfying. So yeah, never gonna happen, as much as I'd be behind it 110%.

I love Grant as the Flash, but the only way it would be a great move if they did the same than as they did with John Wesley Shipp, in the CW Flash, like the cast him as Jay Garrick, or the father of Barry Allen (perhaps he's a bit too young for that ;)) .... or he could be the flash that vanished during crisis, and then they focus on Wally West's Flash instead of Barry Allen, if you want to keep it flash related.... And if they are going to make a GL movie i would love to see them do something with Jessica Cruz i think Camilla Mendes would be a great fit for...

I personally would only want Gustin back if he comes back as the Arrowverse version of the character through means of the multiverse. I really enjoyed his portrayal of the Flash in the TV series but I don’t necessarily want him as the main DCU Flash. I do believe he could play a good film Flash but to me he had his chance for that and he lost it the second he signed on for Arrow season 2. If Gustin was cast in the role however I wouldn’t necessarily be against it at all, I’d just prefer someone else in the red tights. I really like the idea of him playing Kyle Ranner. Or if he HAS to be Flash related, maybe he could do a younger Earth 2 Jay Garrick.
