When I see the new Superman suit, it feels like something his mom put together for the first time. It's not made from Kryptonian materials or technology; it's genuinely crafted from materials available on Earth. You can tell it's been worn and torn, like it's seen some battles. I believe he'll eventually get an upgrade, but for now, this suit feels fitting for the journey he's on.

The suit kind of reminds me of the suit Tyler Hoechlin wore in season 1 of Superman and Lois.

Hope thats his spare suit and the real one is in the cleaners.

I think I already understand the tone Gunn is trying to evoke with this image and suit. Superman is not a messianic figure or modern Greek god from space, he’s an alien raised in a blue collar rural town by farmers. Superman has always been a sort of advocate for the working man, ever since his first comics where he was fighting corrupt politicians and despots. This suit gives me the vibe of a worker going to work, but extrapolated to an alien and super heroic scale. Grant Morrison famously equates the daily life of Superman closely to our own, just on a way more drastic scale; “ he still walks his dog, he just walks him around the asteroid belt of Saturn instead of a park”. If that’s the vibe Gunn is doing in this film mixed with the dorky ‘aww shucks’ tone of Clark as the Kansas farmer in an unfamiliar environment, I am very excited to see how it turns out

I think the suit will probably end up looking pretty good in the film but I think this was a bad first photo. Him slouched forward isn’t doing the suit any favours. It looks loose and baggy and honestly… a little cw😭

No we can’t. There’s nothing enjoyable about the red trunks or trunks period. It’s something that wrestlers and Carnival acts wore in the 1920s to 40s. If the trunks are back I’m not reading the comic end of discussion.

Just like Pattinson's suit reveal... I saw so much negativity surrounding it, then when we saw it in motion in an actual trailer, it pretty much all went away. I feel like this will go the same way. And I absoloutely love that they are using the trunks especially combined with the yellow belt.

My only issue is Superman's shirt shouldn't fit like a jacket

The costume matters John, it's a crucial part of any movie. That's why there's a wardrobe category on the Academy Awards. It can make the or brake the audience immersion in a movie. Every part of a project matters; music, casting, VFX, etc.

I like the new suit. It doesn't look as cool and Henry's but it looks more practical. It looks like something he can just put on, instead of something that needs to be squeezed into. Also, it's cool to return to a real cape instead of the over dramatic CGI cape look.

Superman: the “I Had a Really Long Day Lois Please Not Right Now” Movie

I’m looking forward to a new Superman. But this was a horrible photo and a horrible way to introduce a new Superman with a new costume. Who in there right mind thought that having him sit down covering the majority if the suit was a great idea to show a new Superman? Looks like a photo taken on a phone and adding cheap effects in the back. Not impressed. But I am looking forward to a trailer

This is a huge miss by Gunn/WBD. Superman already has a lot of skeptics, and this reinforces doubts about the film. Why does the image look like a cheap manip? Why is Superman not the focus of the pic - instead the orb is. The first image of Superman should lift us up, but this image drags us down. Gunn has done Corenswet no favors here. As it is Corenswet has a tough road to establish himself as the new Superman and Gunn has made that harder with this photo. No one at WBD had the good sense to put a quash on this? That is scary and really raises questions about the quality of the film. With a cast not well known, cheap looking promos like this and a suit borrowed from the MCU Superman feels more like a TV movie. Better on Netflix or Max than on the big screen. WBD and Gunn need to do damage control sooner rather than later. Fantastic Four is doing everything right including a known, popular cast. WBD/Gunn keep stumbling and it's not impossible that Superman will be another Flash and bomb. This makes one wonder if Gunn was the wrong person to write/direct Superman.

John is so wrong about the trunks but it’s okay

My favorite aspect about the suit is that it doesn’t look too alien like Cavils but not super simplistic like the Reeves version. It looks more like a practical outfit rather than simply a costume if that makes sense.

I can tell just how this looks a little weird and not very Superman kind of suit that most of us know. It's obviously setting up for a new suit either later in the film or in future films. This suit from the photo isn't the only thing he'll wear forever.

Wasn’t Superman Returns meant to be a continuation of the Reeve Superman? So when homie said the suit changed I took it as it changed from that. Thought it was a reasonable question especially for the time lol.

The belt is the most important part. It needs to be yellow. There's already a ton of red and blue. Don't need any more on the suit.

I love the new 52 styled suit with the collar its different people moaning beacuse they cant let go of henry

James Gunn said that everything in the image was captured “entirely in camera”, meaning no retouches or photoshopping at all and that includes the background, which I’m guessing is a backdrop. It’s very impressive how well it’s lit and how well the foreground and background colours all match up.

I like the suit, but I do not love it. I kinda wish the blue was a bit brighter and there was less line work. And unlike John, I am thrilled to have the red trunks back.

I know it's a long shot but: What if this is a part of the story where he lost his powers, injured and has to put on the suit like a normal person while there's a threat. But won't give up. Very "Superman" like.

That suit looks horrible. I will wait to decide if I want to see it in theaters or wait until streaming when the trailer drops, but just based off this image, it's a hard pass. I don't like the S at all. The collar on the suit is a no go for me. The trunks? Oh God.. hell no. The trunks is a horrible look on any character and I really dislike it. They need to move forward. The Cavill suits proved that Superman works without them. It is a shame they can't move forward and are stuck in the past. The tecture of the suit doesn't look good either. I know he is sitting down, but it is flattering. Just so many problems with it over all. All just opinions and I am sure will go crazy of how good they think it is, but it just isn't for me at all.

I'm an old school Supes fan. Without the red underwear...he looks naked to me. Routh's costume looked great but the red underwear was too tiny and needed to rise higher above the waist. I'm just hoping that we actually get a SUPERMAN movie and not a "Superman movie plugged into a Batman mold" movie. That's the reason Batman has always succeeded where other I.P. have failed. The dark and dreary atmosphere works for Gotham. It doesn't work for Metropolis. The world of Superman is bright and vibrant...not dark and shadowy. Superman should always be the polar opposite of Batman. Batman is dark. Superman is light. Until Warner Bros. understands that Batman's mold is BATMAN'S MOLD and that Superman needs his own mold...it'll disappoint again and again and again.

The red underwear were originally part of the style for a lot of strongmen and wrestlers back when Superman was created, weren’t they? Maybe not the color itself, but the style can be seen in photos from the late 19th-early 20th century. At least that’s how I’ve always viewed them, and as such, they should stay in the past.

Before anyone calls me a hater, I have loved Superman in all forms since I was a kid. However, there is something off about this picture. The suit looks quite baggy. I suppose that could be because he is literally suiting up, but it's a little underwhelming. Also, when you consider all the effort James has put into saying he wants to do a hopeful and happy Superman, it's a little odd to release a first picture where he looks pretty serious and a little miserable. Still looking forward to seeing the film, but this picture is a strange choice for a first look. P.s just because I said I don't like the picture doesn't mean I'm desperate to hear why others do, if you like it good for you lol.
