I love you very animated reaction to Mr. Brown. One of those people you’re talking about that old. James Brown has been my favorite entertainer since I was 12 years old and 1968. Before that I was listening to the Beatles and the Dave Clark Five and things like that. I was a white Italian kid when I heard somebody bringing a James Brown song to school and play it on the record player and ever since then I was hooked. I’ve seen him 100 times and concert. I have all his albums and 45s I met him a few times and that kind of good stuff. The gentleman putting the cape on him is Mr. Danny Ray he was with him for about 50 years, he was the person that introduced him to the stage most times and he was the man that mostly put the cape on Mr. Brown this particular routine from the 1964 performance, is one of the most famous routines in all of rock ‘n’ roll or just Soul. He changed the arrangement of “please please please” over the years but he always did the Cape routine. At this point James Brown was rhythm and blues going into Soul and then in 1965 he created Funk with the song “Papa’s got a brand new bag”. There wouldn’t be any hip-hop today without James Brown at least not in the form that it is and both Michael Jackson and Prince said Mr. Brown influenced them more than any other artist. So it would be great if you could do some more reactions of Mr. Brown.

Where did you grow up? Agree about JB's influence on hiphop, Prince & MJ. IDK JB created FUNK. Did he ever perform at the Watts Festivals (Los Angeles) in the 60's?

The TAMI show was a concert in 1964 with Mr. Brown the Rolling Stones and a bunch of other artist that was shown in theaters and then on TV and James Brown turned the place out! The other great song from there you might want to react to is NIGHT TRAIN, where he does the most amazing dancing that he ever did that was captured on film.

You could never add enough exclamation marks behind the name James Brown. What we're witnessing is his live "Shakespearian" version of his classic "Please, Please, Please" for all to witness as his greatest stage performance.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE was Mr. Brown’s first hit in 1956 and it did have quite a few lyrics. Although he does say please please please please quite a bit throughout the song he was emulating the Baptist preachers that would repeat the same thing over and over. "Please, Please, Please" lyrics James Brown & The Famous Flames Lyrics Play "Please, Please, P…" on Apple Music "Please, Please, Please" Please, please, please, please (Please, please don't go) Please, please, please (Please, please don't go) Darling please, don't (Go), whoa oh yeah, oh I love you so (Please, please don't go) Baby, you did me wrong (You know you done me wrong) Whoa, whoa, you done me wrong (You know you done me wrong) So you done done me wrong, (Oh) whoa, oh yeah, oh you took my love And now you're gone (Please, please don't go) Please, please, please, please, (Please, please don't go) please Please, please, please, please, (Please, please don't go) please Honey please don't, (Go) whoa, oh yeah girl, I love you so (Baby please don't go) I just want to yersey, I, I, I, I, (Please, please don't go) I, I, I, I, (Please, please don't go) I Darling please don't, (Go) oh, oh yeah girl, I love you so (Please, please don't go) Baby, take my hand (Please, please don't go) I want to be your lover man, (Baby please don't go) oh yes, good god almighty Darling please don't, (Don't) yeah oh yeah, go I love you so (Baby please don't go) Please don't go (Please please don't go) Please don't go girl (Please, please don't go) Darling please don't go Girl, I love you so Please (Please, please don't go) please

The famous flames were never his back up band they were the vocal group that he started out with and when they first started out they all played some instruments but once he got his own band they were called the James Brown band and then the James Brown Orchestra and in 1970 when his band Left under protest he brought in Bootsy Collins and others and they became The JB’s.
