the beef was in early 60's Joe Tex girlfriend Bea Ford left him for James Brown, they did a record together "You've Got the Power" then she went to go back to Joe Tex and he issued a song "You Can Have Her" addresed to "James".

Little Willie John is inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and he was inducted in by Stevie Wonder so I wonder why the hell isn't Joe Tex inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame but James Brown is indeed inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Yes, I'm sure that Joe Tex was upset that his woman left her for James Brown, but the thing that really pissed him off was when James Brown wrote a letter to him saying that he can have her back. Joe Tex took it as a slap in the face which it was. So, Joe Tex figured, "Hey, I'm going to write James Brown a letter, but I'm going to go at one better. I'm going to make a song out of it." The bottom line was James Brown was trying to embarrass him, and Joe Tex had the last laugh.
