This is “REAL” music !!! No pyrotechnics, flashy lights, and all that add on crap. Real music from orchestras, no studio computer music. Just two pros giving each other respect they both deserve. Fantastic!!!

I think that Harri was just right at 2:50 when he said this was one of Brown's finest vocal performances. I think Brown knew exactly who he was singing with, and he rose to the occasion -- surely he cherished his duet with Pavarotti as one of the highlights of his life.

This has been my most favorite performance of James and Pavarotti it has always been the moment I heard it some 10 yrs ago if not longer...And it still gives me chills... Pavarotti was criticized by the opera world for doing these kinds of performances... LOL... And besides his Loving them I think he also enjoyed giving them the metaphorical Finger... doing them...

James Brown Love Luciano Pavarotti and Pavarotti loved him. In fact he once said, I've always wished I could do it James Brown does, but I will never be able to. I find that so moving.

I think this is the same video I saw, and if it is you may have cut it off at the end. They go back to a video of them leaving in a hallway when a report yells out "How did it feel James?" and James Brown yells back with a big grin "I FEEL GOOD!". I thought it was pretty funny. Good reaction anyway! I thought it was very impressive and moving. This was one of a series of concerts Pavarotti did a series of concerts between 1998 and 2003 in Modena, Italy to benefit many worldwide charities, called "Pavoratti & Friends". This concert, in May of 2002 was to raise money for Angolan refugees. Other guests in this concert included Grace Jones, Sting and Lou Reed. James Brown passed away 4 years after this concert and Pavoratti passed away 10 months later.

Pavarotti is singing, basically, "what is a man without love? He is a fool who lives without love". I don't remember the exact translation, but it complements James Brown's lyrics. This concert is part of a series of benefit concerts that Pavarotti did with many popular music stars: Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Tracy Chapman, and many more. It was his dream to sing popular music and to do these benefit concerts after retiring from opera. You may be familiar with Pavarotti already, but if you are not, check out more of his benefit concerts, and be sure to check out his unforgettable operatic work: "Nessun Dorma" (there are so many videos of this aria over the years, please do not review the Three Tenors solo performance, instead see him perform with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Nessun Dorma, The Three Tenors.) "Una Furtiva LaGrima", "Vesti La Giuba", "NO! Pagliaccio Non-Son!". No one had reviewed this last aria from the third act of "Pagliaccio". I promise, you will not be disappointed, it is jaw-dropping!

Pavarotti: Man/(the mankind) chases power but he doesn't know that the great limit has to be how it will be done. In the palm he holds an idea who does not live, that in his fantasy… he wanted if you don't notice that then nothing makes sense anymore if one lives only for oneself. ------------------------------------------------------------------ It's a Man's Man's Man's World lyrics Artist: Luciano Pavarotti •Featuring artist: James Brown Album: Pavarotti & Friends Brown: This is a man's world, this is a man's world and But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing, nothing Without a woman or a girl You see, man made the cars To take us over the road Man made the trains To carry heavy loads Man made electric lights To take us out of the dark And man made the boat for the water, Like my bible says Noah made the ark This is a man's world But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing, nothing Without a woman or a girl Pavarotti: L'uomo rincorre il potere ma lui non sa che il grande limite ha da essere come si fará. Nel palmo stringe un ‘idea che non vive, che nella sua fantasia… volle se non si accorge che poi nulla ha piú senso se si vive solo per sé. Brown: Man thinks about a little bitty baby girl And a baby boy Man makes then happy Because man makes them toys And after man made other things he can Man makes liras, pesos, dollars, rupees To buy for every good woman and every man This is a man's world, Pavarotti: Nulla ha piú senso se si vive solo per sé. Brown: But it wouldn't be nothing, Without a woman or a girl. Pavarotti: Solo per sé. Brown: He's lost in the wilderness, He's lost in bitterness. Pavarotti: Se non si accorge che poi nulla ha piú senso se si vive solo per sé, solo per sé, per sé. Brown: This is a man's world, yeah.

As experienced as you are, I shouldn't have to tell you this: NEVER STOP THE VIDEO BEFORE IT ENDS. I swear to you, you missed something good. Ten seconds more. You couldn't wait another ten seconds? You are going to want to see it. Maybe you have already seen it, don't forget, we are waiting to see it too.
