James Acaster's Childhood Roadtrip To Devon | COLD LASAGNE HATE MYSELF 1999
Комедия
Once, in 1999, I listened to the entirety of the All Saints self-titled debut album 'All Saints' in the back of a Nissan Bluebird during a journey from Kettering all the way to Ilfracombe... no skips!
WINNER OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING SHOW AT MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL 2019
“There’s a rush you get when you watch a routine that has been burnished to gem-like perfection, every phrase and pause chiseled and grooved to maximize the surprise; I felt drunk on it after two hours of this set. Joke after joke operates on a plane to which standup seldom ascends.” - The Guardian
“James Acaster already has a reputation as a comedy craftsman, but here he has surpassed even his own superlative standards…the way Acaster constructs his story, the way he develops themes and teases out humorous strands, is true genius.” - Evening Standard
“A revelation…career-defining two-hour show.” - The I Paper
Filmed 17.01.2019 EartH in Hackney, London.

Mine had, and I think it was labelled “ABS” (not car-brake related) that just made everything sound better. Like, I don’t why that wasn’t the default setting. It made no sense. My Aria disc man was orange and it was good.

Some of them had a feature you could toggle that would read a second or two ahead and store it in a tiny amount of memory so that if the laser lost track it could make up the gap. I think it did work for me (also back in 1999) but I recall it would run the battery down much faster, and in those days rechargeable AA batteries were a rarer thing, so I had to be judicious about choosing when to use it. Lifesaver on a bumpy schoolbus though.

I just bought the full stand up because of these clips and it's totally worth it. Really, shockingly good, creative, and hilarious. I highly recommend it!
From start to finish that just kept on giving 😂🤣 Brilliant!
Keeping em LEVEL. Fully burst out laughing. Try having one on its side in your blazer pocket during a lesson, with one ear bud up your sleeve! That's a challenge!

I love James and his wacky, original humour...........so needed in these times!...Thanks James
“Thank you, I killed a man.” Very tempted to use this in future!
I'm five years younger than James (born 1990), and it was a CD player in the back of the van for me. Which is a blessing because I have ADHD and related incoordination (dyspraxia), and can't keep a discman level to save my life. Or perform steady-handed surgery to save someone else's.
I remember being on a science club field trip for my middle school in 2007, and I put a CD player at the top of my backup on top of some books, and I had the headphones on so that the chord was hanging off the back of my neck. I sat that way during a long bus ride, listening to Abbey Road, and it didn’t skip (although I thought it did at the end of She’s So Heavy, but the song just ends abruptly).
In 1999 I was still listening to cassettes in the car lol
0:28 omg memory unlocked, i remember trying to keep my cd player level on the bus to school and having it skip over bumps lol
This tall old child is hilarious!
"Huh? Yeah, I'll come with you.... Is it about the man I killed?" 2:11
2:13 love the "uh" 😂
Lol literally feels like the first comedian in the world to have a similar brain 😂 building up small little moments in dry but dramatic ways. Could not have laughed harder ♥️
I'm making the AWFUL mistake of watching this just days after breaking 2 ribs. It's not important how I broke them, but laughing is KILLING me ~Trav

Time of death, 8:37… good stuff
i've watched this special twice and tonight Im gonna watch again o/
I first saw him on Netflix and can't stop watching...my favorite comedian by far, truly funny
plane bit is one of the best bits I've ever heard
I love him
Love it!
Masterpiece
I laughed and related in equal measures.
I'm thinking of trying my hand in stand up and I don't want to be a Chapelle or a Jeselnik that just rely on controversy or shock value for their act. I look up to Acaster, a genuinely hilarious comic that can appeal to anyone by just being plain hilarious. I doubt Chapelle or his ilk could go without their crutch for fifteen minutes and get more than a couple awkward chuckles. This is a real comic

Chapelle REALLY fell off. Hard. I remember watching him as a teenager and found him genuinely funny (and not just because I was a teenager, lmao I just realised I set myself up there) but what he does now compared to back then is like night and day. He's became an old man shaking his fist angrily at passing clouds
That. Was. Perfect.
James Acaster is on 🔥!
The steady hands of a heart surgeon bit is no joke 😭 😂
You, sir, are a genus!!!
You need to make more stand up specials m8.
is it about the man i killed?
we bought that cd on a cartrip to cornwall circa 2002
Wow, I haven't thought about All Saints in a very long time
It will always the worse when my mom hit a bump and my discman would just be ruined. If I could time it right I could gently lift the discman up in synergy with my mother going over the bump.
Such a good joke 😂😂
Brilliant. Is that the dream restaurant maître d' I see on the front row?

Hey brother, I'm a big fan. Love your work, but I don't quite understand the logic. I paid three different times to watch this act halfway around the world in the middle of the night, when I could stay awake, but what horrible deal did you sign that I can't pay somewhere to watch it over again complete? Good on you for quitting whatever, or whatever it is you're going through. I'll respect your journey, but I already paid money, and am willing to pay more to just see this. I didn't need the other thing.
