The weather planning vs being on the road is definitely a great point. I raced sailboats for years it was literally a huge part of the process before we left. I see myself and my fellow sailing buddies doing this for our road trips. We literally compete between us nailing the best weather/traffic timing to avoid the mess and or pending mess. 4wheelers need to do more of this also. It would definitely lower the risks to the freight that can’t pull off.

Jax, those are called Speed binder. Your brother is right too a point with his point. But try hooking one hook on side of trailer then hold other hook straight out , spin ratchet handle with free hand like a wind mill.

My question is if I'm on icy roads but I'm in an automatic and I use the engine brake the truck automatically downshifts which shoots my RPMs up. So should I just avoid engine braking on icy roads if I'm in an automatic, where is there another way around it glad I found you guys the podcast was funny and very informative

Switch to manual mode to prevent this from happening. Choose the proper gear prior to activating the engine brake.

@@maxdwyer7788 gotcha thank you. Swift actually disabled that I believe on there trucks. I can change the gear but the computer will change it right back cause it won't actually let go into manual mode. But thank you though that helped for when I leave Swift I know what to do.

I saw a 60+ vehicle pileup when a guy passed a slow semi on ice then cut back to close in front of the semi and lost it. The se.i ran over his car, a Toyota and jackknifed. Cars n semis were all over the place in seconds. Our kids soberly took in the scene as we showed them another example of why you should think twice about passing, and if you do pass, don't pull back into the lane till you see the lights on the top of the truck cab in your rearview mirror. A car length or two is not enough.

Following rock haulers pulling triples in Utah back in the 90s one of the drivers was on the CB talking about using the trolley valve when going around icy curves to cause the trailer to slide onto shoulder due to the road crown and act as an anchor or drag to help hold onto the road. Sounded psycho to me but maybe...

Love the podcast brothers. Jake brake is shortened to from Jacob's brakes, the original smart people... Gave a friend a ride in my rig and afterwards he says, man I was watching you and your foot wasn't anywhere near the brake peddle...I said it's the exhaust valves beeing held open to retard the engine thus causing the braking needed!!! Just pasted 33 years in the seat boy's, over 2 million miles as a local dump trucker Owner/Operator in SoCal. If the wheels aren't turning, your not earning! Keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down! Watch your doors and I will watch mine! Hammer down South bound... etc...🇺🇸👍🚛

Thank you I had no clue each state has a dental board that is good to know because western dental keeps trying to charge me 3500 for work that i still haven't received i got scared and didn't want to be put to sleep i was afraid i wouldn't wake up lol but they keep trying to charge me for it and i canceled it 2 days before the procedure can they still legally charge me they said i have to pay and i still need the work 😂👊🙏😎

  • @steadyatthewheel

That sounds shady...If they continue to insist you may ask them for the contact info to the State Dental Board to take a look at the issue. If they won't give you the number, easy to look up online. We will have to have an episode where we talk about the pros and cons of dental work with a group dental practice, like western. My advice would be to find a recommended private practice and stay away from the group situations.
