From Humble Beginnings to a Profitable Owner Operator Trucking Business

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Episode 25: 2 of 5 episodes that Jaxon and Weston recorded together
The guys dig a bit deeper into the dues that were paid in Jaxon's journey to develop his owner operator trucking business...Cabover trucks, livestock haulin, and saying yes to every opportunity no matter the disaster that may ensue (as you will hear in this episode) form the foundation for his owner operator trucking business.
Also discussed are auto chains vs traditional chains and Weston's trial by fire learning how to get chains on a truck.
Craigslist finds and private plane rides also make an appearance.
Check out Steady at the Wheel podcast on all podcast platforms for audio version of SATW episodes.

Awww shucks, the time runs out way too fast! Sounds like you young men learned to drive truck much like my husband did. Hey boy, get in that truck and get this load of logs off this mountain to town, when he was 17! 🤣 I was only ever scared one time in the truck with him driving and that was when we were going west up Lookout Pass and then all of a sudden we just started sliding backwards, it was so slick. He just kind of jack knifed the truck with the back of the flatbed kind of into the mountain and stopped her! I jumped down out of the cab to help chain up, landed on my butt, and started sliding down the mountain. The front tandems saved me from sliding all the way down the dang mountain! Worst chain up experience I ever had. But you put that man in a pickup to drive to town, or anywhere, and he’d scare me half to death!! I’d stay at the house when it was time to load cattle to ship, I just couldn’t stand to watch them go! I didn’t go near the cattle after shipping for a couple weeks because I couldn’t stand to hear the mamas bawling for their babies. I’d trail with them in Spring and fall, feed, break ice in winter, help calve, or whatever but no way would I help load to ship. Lee is a great name! My granny’s maiden name was Lee (she was a distant cousin of Robert E. Lee’s, it’s my daughter’s middle name, my daughter-in-law’s middle name, my little Pekingese’s registered name was Sir Tan Lee, and I rescued a little teacup poodle when they shut down a puppy mill and when I went to send in the paper work to put her in my name (at the humane society’s request) her name was Tiffany Lee!! Looking forward to the next podcast! Do you guys have merch? God bless you all and keep you safe ❤️🙏

Dude we always have 1000 names for everyone too ,they can change at any given time for absolutely no rhyme or reason ! It goes for pets too we bring a dog or cat to the vet and they say the name we initially told them when it was little and were like no sorry wrong animal ....OH YEAH !!! THATS IT !!! 😆🤣

Casey LaDell just had auto chains installed on both rears on his big wrecker. $4500, and he claims it was worth every penny. All the fire trucks in our little town have them.

Didn't finish my LOL. Hit the post button instead of the mic button. There was a TV show many many years ago called Stoney Burke. It starred Jack Lord who was the original Steve Macgarrett on Hawaii Five-O. When I was little a Roy Rogers movie had a character called Stoney. It is just perfect for you Weston. Add a black "Heavy D" Wild Bill" cowboy hat and you will kick butt!!! 😉😋 Really enjoy the podcast when you are on it.

Another great podcast, and worrying about missing a turn and having to turn around is an extreme worry of mine. 😂😂 I made a 3 point turn in a 5K gal tanker in the middle of Nevada City,CA because I came to the end of town and missed my turn due to cars parked on the side of the road, couldn’t make the turn. Had people staring at me funny as I used the whole intersection 😂 because I had no idea what the 2 lane road had up ahead. 😂😂

Thanks for the feedback. We would love to do more than one per week, but with our time constraints can't make it happen right now. If we can keep this growing and get to the point of sponsors and monitization we hope to be able to pull away from our other jobs and focus more time on the podcast and YT. This will include better and more cameras!

The words of the old. I cannot see wasting 2000 bucks a axle on them things flinging peices of chin into the ditch or window of the on comming car. when ya put out 300 bucks for a decent set of triples, and carry a few cross bars and chain pliers, ect and if ya spin out of your chains, while cusssing as you puttem back on after fixing them think about how you saved 1500 bucks. I never hauled cows, never wanna haul cows, but do not mind cows ect Hope Jax Likes my song, is a bit short and a bit sad. but is no songs about a female trucker. I am working on a second one However it will have to wait until we get done this disasterous kitchen remodeling and rebuild finished.
