Escape Weigh Station Misery and DIY Hay Trailer Setup

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Episode 26: 3 of 5 episodes with Jaxon and Weston where there is a recounting of the early days of Jaxon's venturing into starting a trucking business.
The episode starts off with the boys talking about misadventures at weigh stations and how a little bit of thinking through the situation may get you out of a ticket.
The second half of the episode delves into the progression of the trucking business from hauling cattle to other freight. The procurement and development of a somewhat DIY (do it yourself) hay trailer advances the range of loads that can be moved.

I had to go through the passenger door and carry him out. He bashed is head bad and didn't have a seat belt on so I waited till the ambulance came poor guy didn't know where he was even at. Boy i forgot about till I herd that story. Stay safe and blessed yall👊🙏😎

As a kid, I worked for a rancher that had a big Belarus cab tractor. I loved it. Once I learned how to shift its gears, I drove it like a truck. It was the only tractor I’d driven that had you could shift like a truck. It also had hydraulics that would push down on the three point lift rather than float. You could pick the thing up off the ground with the front end loader and three point lift. We called it “Ol’ Gorby” after Gorbachev. 😂😂. I raked and loaded a lot of hay with that thing. It was also the only 4WD tractor we had, so I used it to feed with all winter. Hadn’t thought about Gorby in a long time. Thanks for the memories, guys.

We appreciate your support. We would love to do longer episodes and more content! We have some ideas that we are working on to get you more stuff to listen to and watch. As far as filming Luke's life...You probably have noticed he is much less charismatic and entertaining than Jaxon! You would probably get bored with film of his life, but maybe he can get a couple things up.

Love the episode PER usual! Here’s a charming little DOT story of my own I’ve yet to make any sense over. Was running my 05 Peterbilt 379, I go through a scale in Michigan. The officer pulls me around back to do a minor inspection. He goes “you’re all good but I pulled you in for no reflective strips on your mudflaps on the tractor”. I said “oh, well I’ve got a trailer and I literally (damn it I used that word) never disconnect from it”. He says what’s your point. I said”well the rules are if you have a trailer connected, you don’t even need the mud flaps to begin with, so how could I possibly be required any different for the reflective strips on said mud flaps?“ Anyways, short story, he brought me into the scale house and he and I debated this issue for 15 min. Meanwhile he’s the only guy on duty so the scale remained closed during the duration of our interaction, so you’re welcome to those who were spared that day during that time 🤣. But he eventually let me leave without even so much as a recorded verbal warning. He CLAIMED he never had intentions of writing me up for it, but who really knows. Oh, and btw, he admitted full stop that I was correct about that mudflap rule. So how possibly could I be required to have those strips. What if I didn’t have the flaps. There wouldn’t even be a place for those reflective strips. Could I still thrn get written up for no mudflap strips of the flaps weren’t there to begin with? I love the regulations we deal with 🤣🤣

Lol reminds me of when I first started snow plowing for myself .... rotted f350 rotted plow .....BUTTTTTTTT.... everything I could get a rattle can at was paited up and waxed and from 10 feet it looked like a rig you would never plow with 😆🤣😂 meanwhile there were hydraulic leaks and my cutting edge was so worn out it wore through the spring hangers and I had to weld steel back on so it left streaks in nice level pavement driveways 😆 😆🤣

Ya needed a person like me around guys. ya woulda brought tome I sure it woulda been not even half the cost. or left to me to find all material plus the job woulda been much cheeper. I built racks for Ol Benny's Decks. thing it never cost him much more than 5 G for the three trailers

Call it unbeleivable good luck I never was taken down for anything bad at the ol scales. However one visit out to put mud flaps on a Converter. while there a guy aproached me about his brake issue. Telling me they were shutting him down for the little 5th wheel trailer he was pulling. Saying they were shutting him down because the brakes would not lock up the wheels. Now the trailer was a 5th wheel trailer like you pull behind a one ton, with ellectric brakes, and the truck was a lighter tandem IH. All he had on was the end peieces for 6 scafolds. maybe 150 pounds? well knowing that there was nothing wrong with the brakes because i had his roll ahead and aply the brakes it was clear to see they were aplying. But as we know Ellectric brakes will not lock up and dead stall the wheels. so going in with him, I challenged the officers. Stating the law clearly says if the trailer and load do not exceed the weight of the truck pulling it you do not need brakes at all. Knowing i was 100% corect, one of the old boys on the other side of the counter pondered up, put his hand on the youngin trying to make a name for himself, and said you better back down because you are clearly wrong and She is 100% corect. Pattin myself on the back as we left leaving behind a mad young officer that did not know his job rules, it made me feel so good. the fellow with the truck and baby 5th wheel could not thank me enough. There are Loop holes in their laws that you can slip through. Just learn them. Same as if they wanna take you down for a light out, or a brake miss adjusted ect. Plead the Inocence, and challenge them with you have no control of something machanical failing while you are traveling at road speed! even if you only drove 1 mile away from the scale.

You used the wrong argument. The legal limit is whatever your registered and permitted for. They sell a permit allowing you to be 10% over legal. How far out of legal is too far? But just an fyi to any truckers who don’t already know. The Inkom, ID scale are the letter of the law type of enforcement.
