Anurag Basu has a habit of throwing in references from very old Hollywood movies. If you remember Barfi!, you'd find several Charlie Chaplin references in that movie too... Basically he tries to reproduce famous Hollywood movie scenes in Bollywood scenarios... Also, he makes kind of the best musicals in Bollywood...

In barfi Anurag basu intended adding charlie chaplin references and he was vocal about it even in the movie you can see charlie chaplin posters but people liked to act smart and accuse him of "copying", if you look at Barfi's story it's not copied it's completely new, it's just some sequences were inspired :)

Now I know why this movie has 29 songs 🙄🙄

Jaby it is ravi varman cinematographer. he is the only one these type of lighting, color pallet, and camera shot compare to all hindi cinematographer film you watched. He started his cinematography in malayalam film industry and did film like autograph, anniyan, vettaiyaadu vilaiyaadu, dasavathaaram, and Badrinath. all popular south indian film. Then he went to bollywood he did film like barfi, Goliyon ki raasleela ram leela, tamasha, and recent mani ratnam film like kaatru veliyidai. Very awesome cinematopgrapher. You will these type of color pallet, camera shot, and lighting in his last 14 films. Which are beautifully shot film.

He & achara kirk watched kaatru veliyidai trailer. They said it is beautifully shot trailer because of ravi varman cinematography. They want to watch that film. But they didn't. It just bollywood. They will watch it ranbir kapoor & katrina kaif. Is it ravi verman camera magic that sold them to watch this movie. South indian always have been backbone of bollywood cinema.

Hero sings to overcome his stuttering is inspired by a contestant on Indian Idol. He stuttered when speaking normally but was flawless and terrific while singing. The same plot device was used in Shahid Kapoor movie, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, Kaminey.

Anurag Basu said in an interview recently that this movie ends on a cliffhanger and he plans to make a sequel. Jaby you should know this before going to watch the movie Bc I know you were bothered by cliffhanger ending of Baahubali.

Most of the set of the movie takes back to the days of 40's 50's & 60's kolkata and hilly region of North eastern states. Kolkata as an influential province in British era has Classic - English - Gothic touch. Let me tell you guys Kolkata is mini France (famous for beautiful womens like moumita ;) & Haryana is mini Australia (famous for sturdy handsome DUDES ).

If she (Katrina) doesn't ruin the movie that alone will be a huge accomplishment on her part. I have no idea why people put her in so many movies. She is beautiful for sure but she acts like a talking mannequin.

Anyone here a fan of TinTin? Cause, every time I see a Jagga Jasoos trailer it reminds me of the cartoon. Almost same hairstyle as of TinTin, he was a spy too as Ranbir in this movie, Action sequences very similar to TinTin movies and serials, Just one difference; TinTin had a dog(Snowy) as his teammate and Ranbir has Katrina.

The first movie i remebered watching the trailer was ace ventura pet detective ... the goofy character with a wierd hairstyle a spy with a different way of doing things and there were a lot of animals in the movie too .

AJAY PARWANI It's not copied if the director is vocal about it..it's called adaption and the whole idea was to combine all the detectives together..from felu da, tintin, Sherlock Holmes..everyone! And ranbir kept on taking their names in the movie! So I would say it was a fun adaptation! :)

Achara Kirk is toooo cuteee...

So that part you think is in Venice, is actually in Calcutta/Kolkata.. in India..

Yusuf Ali Exactly. That door confusion scene from Barfi was is a perfect example. It was taken from Charlie chaplin's material frame by frame. Lots more as well. From the trailer also we cam figure that majority cool looking stuff has been taken from elsewhere. No respect for creativity and originality in Bollywood.

Dheeraj Jain Ghorawath Then Wat do u have to say about the plot.Isn't that originality or uniqueness.Barffi wasn't criticised for its plot but just a few comical scenes that were taken from Chaplin films.Jagga Jasoos seems to be a film with a unique plot but with a few adventure scenes taken from other films.Hollywood has done that too with some of their films which were later appreciated worldwide.And yess if u are a true film lover u wd watch the film as it is for Ranbir's great performance and the unique storytelling skills of Anurag

exactly the director loves to do such references and u also will realize that when u watch barfi for Ranbir and Priyanka so many references to Charlie Chaplen and even the music many references to the classical music ,,barfi also has so much vibes like that one as regards the cinematoghraphy ..for me barfi is great and Priyanka's performance in it is just perfect and of course Ranbir was awesome but i don't know about that one i hope it will b good .. enjoy💞

Prabal Hazarika which scenes were original to be exact?? All were either from cuteness from Emily, comedy from Chaplin, love story from notebook, many scenes were directly lifted from the notebook.. Even the last romantic scene when they die on same bed was copied cut to cut.. They can't even change the camera angles😔😔
