In India it's not about good or bad politician, but only a handful of people have weird amount of power, people even when not threatened don't open their mouth as its really scary to be on the wrong side of these handful.

This was a true story. Words can't explain HOW ANGRY I was after watching the film. The justice system in India is so pathetic...300 witnesses and yet no case!

This was one of the most famous criminal cases in India. Jessica lal was shot point blank in the head in 1999 when this brute of a famous politician was refused alcohol after the bar was closed where she worked as a part time bartender . Just because of THIS, he shot her in the head, she died on the spot. For the next 8-9 yrs her sister sabrina lal fought for justice. She finally got it with lifetime imprisonment of the guilty in 2006. This case was televised all the time, brought whole nation on the streets to protest against the lethargy of Indian judiciary and police. YOU MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE. if u liked vidya balan in kahani, u will love her performance here.

I was actually not aware of this case ..... it's a shame 😔😔

Whenever I see this trailer, it gives me goosebumps. Even 7.5 years later, this trailer and movie still stands out.

We have less "female lead" movies but the silver lining is that the quality of such films way outweighs the ones with male lead (like HNY, Dilwale, Kick, etc)

It is a compelling movie, and the havoc it created in RL made everyone want to see the both sides of story. Much like Talvar, with Arushi murder case.

Hi Jaby, this is a true story a story and what the sister of Jessica has gone through is just insane for what a person has to go through to get justice. One of my favourites and an all time classic by Vidya balan and Rani Mukarji. BTW i really like your Chanel very much.. #Peace

@Jaby Koay This film is based on a true story! And I worked on this film as an Assistant Director. This was my 1st film! I will highly recommend it to you to watch! Not the technically the best film but its intense with great performances!!!

Great movie selection Jaby. Such stories act as mirror to our society and fake pride.Also the movie was very well directed.

This is one brilliant movie which actually started (from 2010) the change in Indian Cinema through powerful female lead roles .

This movie was spectacular.

Ok I know this is a late comment.. But let me help you understand how politicians manipulate 300 witnesses.. You start with 1 & 2 High profile witness who agrees. You indirectly threaten who don't agree. And you kill who still defy you and your power. The killing of witnesses sends a strong message even to the weak hearted witness and they surrender completely to the politician's will. That's is how it was initially done. Only after media took this battle upon themselves, did the culprits really came to justice. This was one of those great examples of power of media and newsman

The journey of Sabrina Lal, Jessica's sister to get justice for her is courage in its own... Vidya Balan potrayed that role brilliantly.

With this case most of the witnesses didn't have to be paid off. It was a very high profile case and since the minister's son was involved everybody backed out. Many celebrities were eye witnesses. People simply didn't want to get involved.
