The folks who keep them running have my utmost respect
As an old USAF fighter maintainer it's nice to see the maintenance required to keep these old beasts running
"who hell worked on this last???" aaahhhhh the common refrain of the enginus mechanicus in his natural environment lol!!!
One of my absolute favorites. Great to get a technical view.
The Jagdpanther is my favorite Armored Fighting Vehicle of WW2. It is a work of art.
Great explanation with the carburetors.
Always a pleasure to see Sofi!
It so good to see that old tank being cared for!
OMG, I remembered building one of these Jagdpanther model 1:35 made by TAMIYA when I was a kid. It so different when you see a real one. Thanks for the video. 👍
Yes. One of my fav’s
I just love hearing and seeing these machines running.
I've never heard such a good pronunciation for jagdpanther from an American. Gj Sofi. Next step will be "Seitenvorgelege' Greetings from good old Germany
As a paramedic/heli pilot I once attended a guy who was involved in an overhaul on Tiger 131. Looking around the inside was extraordinary, but on seeing the Maybach on a bench, I was struck how puny and compact it seemed in relation to the tank size. Amazingly (overengineered) German workmanship.

The only thing which makes it shorter was the tunnelcrankshaft. Every other detail is like on most V12 of the time. Where is the over engineering? There Sherman m4a4 used a 30 cylinder Chrysler engine with 5 carburetors, the a2 and all M10 and twin diesel engines!

Its a pretty simple engine. The Germans have always been able to get a lot of power out of their engines without making them weigh a lot. The old guy at the beginning of this video should look at a modern AMG engine if he thinks the simple jagdpanther engine is complex.

I would check the float levels😮...
Can someone build a custom manometer for measuring air flow through each carb at the same time? Hopefully it's just a clogged emulsion tube or float setting and no parts are needed. Cool asmr treat!
I think sofiliens German DNA was jumping up and down when she heard the jagdpanthers engine running. 😍
The Jagdpanther will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first tank model I ever built, more that 25 years back. It even had a similar color sheme like this one here. I really like the simple but very aesthetic shape of this tankhunter.
The amount of knowledge someone working on collections like these must build up is incredible. I'm sure there is some repetitive tasks to do, but the amounts of "we have a problem" *spends 3 weeks researching* {tackles problem} must keep it interesting.

I know the pain. I have a 1983 Chevy S-10 (V6 Carburetor) and I played HELL trying to find a guy with the right knowledge to get it tuned to pass California smog. ;)
Hi Sofilein, The Jagdpanther Maybach engine was the best engines in the German army during WW2. The sound of a running Maybach engine is more than impressive. Thans a lot for sharing this and I send you love from the Netherlands
I love the Jagdpanther and the engine with it's correct idling is making a marvellous sound. To adjust the carburetors is not a job for amateurs but I can see that the guys are doing a great job 👍 👏 👌
Has always great video and great to see you again Sofi.
Thank you, Sofi, Martin and Johno. Excellent video.
👍👍 Thanks for a great video Sofilein. ❤Tanks and big vehicles ❤
The sound is incredible…thanks for putting a video up of this
Just the best sound in the world, the Maybach! And in my favorite tank!
Man, does that Maybach run smooth as butter! Beautiful sound!
Got excited when I read the title, and then again when they 'got into it'. Great stuff as always!
Jagdpanther ASMR works as long as that tank doesn't start moving in my direction 😉
Good to see you back in action Sofie.
Now that’s a Maybach 😊
Thanks! Sofi🙏🙏
Auf der Heide blüht ein kleines Blümelein und das heist: SOFILEIN!
The Jagdpanther just looks right.
I enjoy the technical stuff. Thanks for bringing us this content.
Jagdpanther ASMR .... satisfying .. 🥰
Purrs like a Panther 🥳
Outstanding work
Damm, the a beaufull sound!
Thanks!
Always an informative and Outstanding video. Thank you so very much Sofilein.
V12 always sounds good 👌🏻😎
Gorgeous girl gorgeous jagdpanther 😍
Thanks Sofie!
It would be interesting to see the state of the spark plugs on the bad side, especially the first and last of that side.

Right, those Solex's are also prone to leaking after she is shut off and getting the plugs wet. And it could be cam timing on that side. Hopefully just a carb float issue like he thinks.
Beast!
Great stuff! Thank you!
Would like to see more videos with you on camera with the tanks......
This makes the trouble I'm having with my 1/16 Tiger II look like child's play.
That was a great video but there was a beep in the background during some of it.
Another GREAT vid!! Cheers!
I imagine ever Non automotive person watching this thinking to themselves..."What's a Carburetor?" ;)
Excellent video
Facscinating! Thank you very much!
Sounds lush😍
Merci !
very nice
Nice information and cool video Sofi ...love seeing these old vehicles that had made world history...Hey Sofi !!!
4 Solex 2BBL's.. I was a Porsche /Ferrari tech.,, & still have my ''Syn'' gauge,, & Solex float level site tool from the 60's. Bet @ least one of those would be useful on this gem. 😉 Ian
You have officially made me love you now.....best tank( I know, I know, TD) and best host.....great vid
That's a pretty tonk
This is the same JP that fires a blank from years back. I think this is the only modern video of an 88 on a tank firing to get an idea of how loud they can be.
Great videos 🙂

Glad you like them!
That's important to set correct fuel flow ,due to you can end up washing the cylinders down and destroying the rings on the pistons and you got big problems
Maybach HL230 is a great motor assuming you have a truck of trained Mechanics following you as the German did. The closeness of the cylinders to each other always blew my mind. It's basically an HL210 bored out to 23 litres.
Could be worse ... think of synchronizing six down-draft webers on a lamborghini.

Or the 5 Carburetors on the M4a4 with it's 30 Cylinder Multibank engine.
3:08 - nice plug tatt 😹
👍👍
on the inside engine hatch/door what is with the triangle shaped cutouts. is that to use as a handle to help open and close the door
Poor Johno looked like he’ed rather be somewhere else 😉
😮😮
Love the sound of the Maybach engine !. Is this Jagdpanther one of few build after the WW2 ? 🤔
@kkherondale

No, the Weald Foundation Jagdpanther 411 was issued to a Panzer unit. Our second Jagdpanther, where we have about 90% of the parts, is awaiting restoration. That is one that was sitting in the finishing hall at MNH in April 1945 and was eventually completed by REME.

5:31 Adjust the floats??
- Is this filmed in the UK .. ?

Yes, at the weald foundation
If you are trying to test a system, you start from it's beginning. Before the carburetors, I would make sure to check the fuel tank(s), filter(s), and the pump(s). Whenever dealing with a gasoline engine, eventually a steel fuel tank will rust.
Is there a J.P. 375 PLS let me know in the comments.
What was that sound at the 4:02 mark?

If i could marry Sofi, i would do it in a Jagdpanther ❤
😀🤩😀💚💚😀🤩😀🙏👍
And Id like to see tank girl dressed as a female German panzercommander on top of a panther jagdpanther King tiger and jagdpanther wouldn't you? 😍
I would think with a war going on that involves tanks you would be into more current events involving to your subjuct matter.
