Jacob is the Mozart of his generation! You need to hear him playing with Snarky Puppy! It is literally mind-blowing! He used over 5,000 tracks to accomplish this artistic masterpiece! He won a Grammy for this. Oh, he has perfect pitch, so singing those intervals is a piece of cake-he sings quarter-tones in this too!

@@Disrupterds As a composer-pianist, I agree of course, but I was not making a literal comparison! The statement I made is analogous to the genius of the two-most particularly the promise and accomplishments made by the ages of the two!

The faces at the beginning are his friends, such as Herbie Hancock, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Daniel Ceaser, etc.etc. He composes, arranges, sings, plays tens of instruments, edits videos... does almost everything by himself. Check "All Night Long"!

Hans Zimmer, Chris Thile, Jonah Nilson, Kimbra, Tory Kelly, Charlie Puth, Steve Vai, Quincy Jones and a ton of others, who'd have thought the biggest musical collaboration in the last handful of years would be a bunch of people singing "moon". lol

Genius! I'd never heard of him but I've seen some hype about this and it's justified. Got to look into more of him. Apart from anything else, if it's good enough for Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones, it's good enough for me. This is why I read the comments.

It finally happened! Thank you for doing this reaction, I hope I didn't disappoint you with it. But seeing your reaction I hardly think so :D Jacob is a 27 year old guy from the UK and one of if not the most musical talented guy alive. With his 27 years he already won 5 Grammys, one of them for Moon River. He's a multi instrumentalist so it's probably harder to find one he can't play ^^ He has perfect pitch and works with it, means he uses not only the notes availabe on a piano for example but also those between. In the jazz world they see him already like a god because of his talent. The first part is with many friends that are also professional musicans and he just told them they should sing Moon with a random note from a key he gave them and than he made this. It took him only a week to make all the music and it's all by himself. Only the beginning and the highest note from the last cord is not Jacob. He made the filming also by himselve in the living room and the visual effects are made by a company. If you have time and are interested, Jacob made a video where he analysed it for like 1h 30, but if you watch it listen to it a bunch of times before. It's just impressive how nothing is randomly! Jacob has so many great things, All night long is definitly something I can recommend :D as always have a nice day and greetings from Germany ;)

Im a huge / massive Jacob fan. Been following him on KZread since he was barely out of school. He’s a composer / singer / writer / multi-instrumentalist / and music genius. Quincy Jones saw him on KZread and signed him immediately. Would love to see some more JC reactions!

Ok… about the intro… Jacob sent an email to approximately 50-100 musician friends asking them to send back a file of them singing the word “Moon”… among them Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and the the late David Crosby. JC then took the returned files and arranged them in Logic and what you see is the end result of more meticulous work by Jacob. Jacob Collier is a multi-grammy award winning composer/arranger/multi-instrumentalist/producer/genius. Every tune you see of his will have a similar effect. Check out the video he made that got Quincy Jones’ attention: JC’s cover of “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing”.

This is one of my most favorite songs... Wow. Quite intricate and creative. Awesome videography. Is interesting how a simple song like that can jumble into "Kaleidoscope". "Moon River" is a song composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. It was originally performed by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song.[1] The song also won the 1962 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. There is an inlet in Savannah Georgia (hometown of Johnny Mercer) that was named "Moon River" in honor of his song.

Really nice reaction and I gotta say that is one kick ass Halloween shirt. I am green with envy. Jacob is a genius and respected music & harmony theorist in demand around the music world. He has five Grammys and has been reimagining music and music videos since he first went on KZread at age 17. On this video he did everything but the actual video which was produced -w much input from Jacob-by a digital production studio in California. Jacob in a video about making this commented that to get all the shots to make the video he had to sing the whole song 93 times wearing all the different shirts. He plays many instruments and is an absolute magician on the piano. "All Night Long" may still be tough for your ADT but he did do everything on that one-including the video. The energy on that one is so uplifting I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. The intro was -I believe-152 friends, family and various famous friends he reached out to for the notes they sang.

This is the beautiful theme song from the Audrey Hepburn movie, Breakfast At Tiffany's (way before your time 😉). I'd suggest listening to a recording of Moon River by Andy Williams. Or Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, etc. It's a beautiful but very simple song. PTX would be a hit w/this song, too! 💖

My introduction to him was recent with "Time Alone with You". I was pretty floored by the talent (and energy). The "moons" are other artists in the industry, who are also friends of his. His cover of "All Night Long" with Take 6 (who were some of the moons at the start) is spectacular. Also, I feel you completely with regard to wanting the start to move along or wondering when something else was gonna happen. I thought the same thing. Like "this is nice, but...what else?" But when that "else" kicks in, it's glorious.

By now, I 'm sure you know more about JC. Moon River is very hard to follow if it is your first time listening to Jacob. If you haven't, listen to his workshops at MIT and USC you will learn more about him, how he thinks and how he feels music. The young man is brilliant!

As a Jacob Collier fan who also has ADHD, I agree that this one is definitely overstimulating and understimulating at the same time? Musically genius, but oh boy lol. Luckily he does all kinds of music, so you should be sure to check out more of his stuff! I recommend his cover of All Night Long next. And yes, he did this all himself from the singing to the production to the visuals! He's really talented, and so young ugh. Btw this is a cover of a song that's originally from the classic Audrey Hepburn move Breakfast At Tiffany's, and it has since become a bit of a jazz standard. Edit: Not my ADHD ass being a year late with this comment lmaoooo
