There is Jacob Collier. Then there are the rest of us. This young man is beyond description. Welcome to his rarified aire. You will be absorbed. The opening wasn't Patreons ... they were luminaries (Herbie Hancock, Hans Zimmer, etc.) who have also been blown away by Jacob's gifts. There are so many things for you to discover. My suggestion for next up is "All Night Long".

I love watching people's first reaction to Jacob Collier. You asked who is this man. He is the true genius of music in this generation at least. He's left the best musicians in the world absolutely baffled. Would love to see you react to more of his music

If the next Mozart was around alive, how long would it take people notice? Jacob is a freak of nature. 2+ octave vocal range and perfect pitch. Pretty good on the drums, really good on the bass and an excellent piano player. Randomly picking one of his songs will almost always yield a good result. But for fun places to start, I'd go with The Flinstones, All Night Long and All I Need. Subbed.

I can tell by your face that you are hearing what I’m hearing. This arrangement is so dense, yet it still flows well to my ears, and I guess I’m in Jacob’s target audience because this song is as emotional as it is impressive to me. Found your channel through Dimash, and like your music reaction choices. I think with Jacob Collier I would recommend alternating between his covers and his original music. I’m going to suggest “Don’t You Know” followed by “Flinstones” from his debut album “In My Room”. Self-produced and featuring Jacob on all instruments. It’s beyond comprehension for my feeble mind, but I think you’re going to be blown away no matter how you approach his stuff.

I am so happy you looked into Jacob Collier. What a prodigy! I thought you and your wife might like his interpretation of music covers. He just elevates them to such a unique level. There are live performances on YT too showing him in action using multi instruments and loop pedal(s). His harmonization layering is breathless. Ear candy! He has been known to do randomized livestreams to include internet audience participation too. You will find those on his channel I am thrilled you found joy with what you have heard thus far. If you and your wife want to geek out on music theory, there is a video of him and Charlie Puth discussing their process of music chord creations and pulling them together.

I am so glad you reacted to this song! Jacob Collier is one of the most underrated if not the most underrated living musician in the world. This is a masterpiece, the most extraordinary I've heard in my life harmony wise. And I say this as someone who made classical music on a professional level for 8 years. This man is so unbelievably talanted, I don't even have words for it. If you are really interested in how this song was made, Jacob sometimes makes "logic sessions" where he takes a song and works through it what his thoughts were. In the session for Moon River he is talking and showing for about 1h 30min and the time goes by like nothing and you don't have the feeling like he tells you something very deep about it but simply some cool things. Fyi the amount of work was only 1 week including the recording of all voices xD Greetings from Germany

I understand he has over 1200 individual lines (parts) for this song ALONE. As for the rabbit hole, it has been one of my favorite finds in my lifetime. As to what you’ll find, all I can say is wait until you here one of his original compositions. Please also bear in mind ALL of the videos he has posted here prior to being ‘discovered’ by Quincy Jones are performed, arranged and produced by Jacob (and here’s the real kicker) between the ages of approximately 17 and 21. JC can take a melody and suspend it in a swirling vortex of chordal complexity without ever allowing the listener to forget the melodic line they came to hear. The mark of genius. By the way, have you heard of Snarky Puppy?

In 1977 we sent Voyager 1 into space with the Voyager Golden Record containing music like Bach's Toccata and Fugue. This was a statement where we as humans have evolved to. I suggest we send an additional probe with Jacob Collier's Moon River to level up.

12:24 I know his lowest chest is normally a D or a C so I have to guess that the end was either pitched down or a subharmonic popped due to the harmony because I swear I heard a B0 right there and as far as I know I haven't heard him use subharmonics ever.

Hey, what happened to the rabbit hole? I searched your video list and this is the last Jacob Collier you did. Did you just binge everything you could find and forget to record reactions? =) Did anyone in the comments point out that he shifts up and down a HALF key a few times and makes you not even notice the modulation? He wanted the end to feel "brighter." He starts in Bb major, shifts to Db major when he starts singing the first verse, hops into D major, then C major. Once he shifts into A major (for two measures), he carefully modulates to A=427.47 Hz (D half-sharp major), then to E half-flat major. Eventually, he slowly rises in pitch a half step to standard tuning back into A=440 (in E major), but keeps shifting the pitch up slowly over six measures to A=452.89 (another half-sharp, but into C major). Whew. Unsurprisingly, he won one of his four Grammys for Moon River. Please, please react to some more Jacob Collier. I'll look around in case I missed some reactions.
