The fact that Jacob had this arrangement in his head already 🤯

He recorded every run until it was perfect then sped it up x2. Tory was trying to copy a x2 speed singer literally ;)

I think they are listening to an initial arrangement by Jacob in the headphones.

@@dieterdohlen6386Jacob was singing the runs here too though. Even Tori said she’s worried her first attempt at the runs weren’t “as fast” as his.

@@kingofmeereen Yes, cause Jacob played his runs at double speed, hoping Tory could somehow sing that :) He explains and shows his x2 runs in the making off video. Tory did most of the fast forward runs in real time, which is obviously crazy. They only had a 1 hour session booked so she didn't even have time to practise.

Yep. He's known to change chords so knowing the melody doesn't help much when he's the arranger.

Its funny you mentioned that brief comment about the chord where you "added a 6th that doesn't belong" in a chord he can name. Def check out Jacob's video titled "That's not a wrong note, you just lack confidence." He definitely has a unique approach to chord theory and harmony.

I never had any doubt about what an extraordinary singer Tori is. But actually seeing her do this clarifies it in such an amazing way. These two are mind blowing talents. Raising the bar is exactly what they do

Fun fact: It took him 3 days to arrange this song.

And 1 hour to record this part. :) Well, this was because Tori had to go to Lawrence's concert. :)

If you have only 1 hour to record this, first time ever hearing the requested runs and you nail it in this way, then you are one with music. I wish Neal Simon and Art Garfunkel would share their thoughts about this. The original masterpiece can't be replaced. But this new, epic take gave us a brand new gem.

Yes, there is hope. That’s what I knew, when I first heard Jacob so many years ago. And man, he is delivering and growing. Love this guy and I love what he makes other amazing musicians do. He is better than Bach and Mozart together.

There are a few other songs from his new album I’d love to get your first time reaction to, if you haven’t already listen to the whole album. Summer Rain might be my favorite, Cinnamon Crush is a great groove, as well as Never Gonna Be Alone and even Wherever I Go. Those are my favorites
