Jackson Zen 3.0
DESCRIPTION
The Zen platform has been a staple on expeditions and in schools for its versatility. The Zen 3.0 takes note of our Hero Series and combines that knowledge with our previous Zen designs to produce a shorter, lighter package that stays on top of the water, has a ton of initial stability, and lifts easily over waves, holes, and rocks. It’s a dry, confidence-inspiring ride that doesn’t get grabbed in swirlier situations. This means it’s not only a great boat for beginners, but also provides welcome confidence in some of the biggest, most chaotic rivers.

    Just saw one in person and agree it looks like a winner. Seems like a perfect winter boat for more casual boaters who never run more than class 4. Also, great boat to teach beginners how to edge and do the basics without being too much of a barge to inhibit learning (like the zen 3 was).

    Interesting to see next to my current boat. This Flow really has my attention and I’m looking forward to demoing one at some point. Only concern is the comments I’ve seen about the low knee position. I’m really curious about your thoughts on overall feel for a novice/intermediate boater, so I’m looking forward to your on water review.

    @@WadeHarrison Do you consider the Z3 to have low knees as well? I’ve only paddled it and the Code. I was assuming they were more standard upright position, perhaps not. They both seemed okay to me. Not sure how they compare to others.

    Looks like great beginner boat/spice up your local 5+ if your initials are DJ, otherwise why would you choose this over a hall slice? Bummer to hear JK went back to their lame knee height position, seemed like after EJ got fired they had a brief moment where they saw the light, Gnar/Rockstar V have great knee height/position.

  • @WadeHarrison

    @WadeHarrison

    Yeah, the whole EJ "fired/ask to leave" and now doing his own boats to compete against his old brand with his name on the side is something I find very interesting to say the least? I don't feel this boat is crazy low in the knees, but it feels lower than what I'm used to.

    The knees are lower than boats like the Scorch as our boats are traditionally, but it's far from the Nirvana or our lower knee boats in the past, still plenty of space to be comfortable. Had a 220lb 6.2 paddler get in the medium on the Moose comfortably. @@mikecatura6210

    @@wildcard7799 I wouldn’t say it’s much of a comfort issue on my part but more of a preference issue. Jackson decks tends to sit lower which causes legs to butterfly while other manufacturers like pyranha for instance have a more vertical natural fit. Just my preference though

    Man that flows the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life. The boat no one was asking for, how much more fun is this hunk o junk gonna be than the gnarvana? If you want a more playful boat you can basically creek in but aren't worried about running huge stuff, why wouldn't you just get a half slice? They should have made a Gnarvana X - 10'3", 113 gallons, wide as hell for us beef eatin' Montana jabronies.

    I don’t think it looks bad and i think it’s more of a modern Zen3 did they need it with the gnar in the line up well that’s a good question? but do agree with you that the newer HalfSlices are pretty much the sporty creekers.
