I believe she was mainly referring to the theatrics but in the end that’s the way he feel comfortable singing and to be critical of his STYLE and not his voice was very unreasonable

Going back to this... seeing how Jack is now in the top 7 and doing an incredible job. Major props to Luke to pulling this off. Jack so deserves to be in this thing.

Why do I feel like i'm being played though? I watched 2 videos from American Idol in a row on the first video they said to the contestant that the Crew is clapping and it has never happened before. Now the crew is voting and it has never happened before. It feels like a publicity stunt. Maybe the "stars above" was the signal to get this done hahhaha. EDIT: Holy shit i might be right: 3:40 Lionel starts laughing awkwardly and he took a long time as if someone from the production team was telling him something and then he goes "Alright stars above..." which could mean he agrees to do this shit. this is the other video for anyone wondering: watch?v=Cc9f37G619c - 5 : 17 - I've never heard the crew clap.

I, too, was initially caught off guard by Jack's facial expressions when forming notes but quickly realized this is his style. So happy Lionel Richie had the confidence and humility to bring Jack back...speaks volumes about him and what makes a true and strong public figure. Bravo!

One of the best auditions ever on American Idol...

Music is so in my heart. I cry during the episodes because I see people sing with their whole heart. When they let him go, I banged on my table, I was mad. When crew stepped in and they brought him back in, I banged my table to celebrate with him.

Lionel was torn, glad he changed his vote. He was humble, stood there quietly took their critique and judgement, he didn’t have a sob story, so they didn’t let him through as they would have done with others with the same, if not less, talent. I’m very glad Luke made a fuss about it. He definitely deserved a chance to go through to next round with his vocal and songwriting talent.

His gestures and mouth movement was a little old school, Hank Williams comes to mind as was some of the song with a little yodel put in. The song, words, voice and creativity were excellent and should have outweighed the others. He has great potential and these things easily coachable. I was floored with the no, when I have seen some go thru with just a smidgen of his talent. Way to go crew in turning it around.

Young Jack is fully committed to his craft. But also coachable, humble and unique - and has a pretty darn good voice to boot! Can’t wait to hear more!

What I love about this is he took the feedback, took the no and was so obviously an INCREDIBLE songwriter and singer with a few bad habits, and then they called him back and put him through. That song just flowed and could be a recorded hit. Well deserved!

Everything was great but the facial expressions are a bit distracting, I'm not trying to be mean but it's just my honest first impression I would be able to focus more on his talent if he just reeled in the facial expressions a lil bit.

This is one of the best auditions I've ever seen on the show. Beautiful musicality, tone, control, emotion, authenticity, and just wonderful to listen to. My mind is absolutely BLOWN that these judges are so deaf 😂

That’s what I liked about him right away, I come from a big family that’s mostly where our clothes came from.

They do this dramatic stuff for the show, that audition was easily top 10 I’ve heard on the show

He sang so good and such a unique sound , I hope he wins it all !!!!!!

Only song in the auditions thus far that I’d add to a playlist. Sang with soul, ease, control, and power. Guitar dynamic was masterful as well.
